Man it always amazes me just how much money people will pay for guitars owned by their heros... Being a Who fan i keep an eye on guitars Pete once owned and what they sold for.... This web site shows a Les Paul Deluxe that Pete had Played and Smashed in the 70's.... sold off to a collector who restored the guitar to working order with a new headstock and a new Pickup.... They sold this piece of poop for $45,000usa!!!!! Holy cr*p!!!! I mean i like Pete and all but who would ever pay that for a guitar he sweated on and mistreated in Who style destruction... I guess it is a piece of rock history but come on.. a 1963 SG Pete used in 72 sold for $86,000 English Pounds!!! Wow...
How much would any of you be willing to pay ofor your favourites artists guitar? Even if i was a millionair i would never pay thousands for a guitar just because so and so used it....
See Pete's LP guitar here
you go down thru that Pete page at the bottom you see more LP Deluxes that had been broken and repaired.... later sold at auction... nuts!
Here is a fixer upper that is in a museum in London England

Thanks for the link. I'm a big fan of the Les Paul Deluxe! It's too bad that Pete tore so many of them up. I agree the prices are crazy.Sprinter
I love how wacked out his mini/hum/mini les pauls look... I'd love to hear one of those

Best place to hear how these modded LP Deluxes sound is to have listen to the Live WGFA from the Kids Are Alright Soundtrack cd.... or the DVD of course....
Also the live bonus tracks from Swansea Wales 1976 on the Remastered cd of The Who By Numbers is also a good source for hearing those modded LP Deluxes...
Later on after Pete started using Shecter teles late 79 he said in an interview he had no idea why he modded his LP's with the extra pickup and the switches in the late 70's... He said he just liked the way they looked over any real sound improvements. They do look neat! Pete even had the necks on his LP Deluxes reshaped and resprayed... oh the joys of having lots of money and techs to do whatever you can dream up.
