I'm actually digging the stock gibson 490R and 498T pickups. I was wondering if the alnico II pro is similiar to the 490R neck.

Naw. The 490 is more bassy and muddy and compressed sounding than that A2P.

I agree. The Alnico II Pro neck model is brighter and clearer than the 490R.

Toss a 500K pot in the neck, do the 50's mod and rock on! Or get some new Duncans....either way is cool. I'm DIstortion loaded in the bridge with the original 300k pot in that spot.
