Wow. I'm using this setup just until my Marshall gets out of the shop.
I have the Blues Jr. set for maximum clean headroom. Channel volume/gain on about 4, master volume on about 6. This keeps even my Les Paul very clean, and it't pretty loud. I am running the GT-6 right into the amp (no effect loop) and then into my Marshall 4x12 in 8ohm stereo.
This is the best I've heard my GT-6 sound outside of using it with headphones. I usually find that amp modelers with headphones provide the best representation of what the unit can deliver, because there is no coloration of the sound by pre-amps or power amps, or speakers...you just get the sound the designer intended.
My Marshall, Soldano, and Mesa settings all sound wicked, as do my Fender Twin and Vox settings. and for 15W, this Blues Jr can move some air thru the 4x12.
Anyone who is using an Pod, V-amp, ect....I suggest trying this. I'm really pleased with the sound.
I have a POD 2.0, running directly into a Peavey Envoy 40 watts. The sound is ok, I doubt I'd notice a difference if the amp was slightly better. But I want to get a Marshall 20/20 power amp and a 2x12 cab and run it in stereo through that.
I'm currently running my Boss GT-8 into a Mesa 50/50 power amp and a Vox open back 2x12 and a Marshall sealed back 2x12 cab. Sounds great and covers pretty much any sound I can imagine.
Hey Jeff, try this:
Run the GT-6 into the FX return of the Blues JR if there is one, and turn off cabinet modeling.
Better yet.....ditch all effects, put the Volume at 10, Master at 4 and EQ to taste.
Thise were the settings I gigged with last weekend. I had two overdrive pedals that stayed off most of the night. With real tube distortion right there I didn't see a need to go with something that was just trying to sound like the real deal.
Hey Jeff H...... I have a Blues Junior too. Do you get a lot more volume when you push a 4x12 with your BJ? Also how many ohms is your cab. Also do you have any soundclips of this rig? I ask because I really want to try an extra cab and have never done that before.

My recording ability is nil right now. I need a new soundcard for my computer.
To answer your questions, yes, there is noticably more volume thru the 4x12 than thru the single 12. It's also more articulate. My cab is switchable between 4 and 16 ohms, or 8 ohms stereo. Since the Blues Jr is 8 ohms, to play it safe I unpluged the internal speaker and ran directly to the cab at 8 ohms stereo. It's amazing how much air the 15w Jr can push thru the 4 speakers. My cab is rated at 300 ohms...so there is really no speaker breakup to speak of. I think the Jr would sound better thru a 2x12 with greenbacks, or something in the 50 total watts area or less.
You can pick up a really nice Avatar 2x12 loaded for under $300 shipped. If you are just wanting to try a cab out, that's the route I would go.

I do this with my GT5 plus I turn off the preamp and od/ds box modeling as well... makes a wonderful effects engine! It's better than a whole buncha pedals and great for people who aren't smart enough to use rack stuff (like me)!
I find that the Boss stock patches in there are OK but they need extensive tweaking and editing down to really sound good.
