i am gonna get a noise supressor, should i get the Boss NS2 or dish out the $150 for the Rocktron Super Hush C?

My NS-2 works perfectly, although you may want to switch it off when you use cleans.

I've heard of the Hush's breaking down easily, I believe The_Chris had a problem with his, and now happily owns an NS-2.

yeah i am gonna go with the NS2 it's got nothing but good reviews and will more then definatly serve it's purpose. so it seems final now, i am gonna get the Boss NS-2, Boss GE-7, a Dimebucker, and then a patch cable.....is the GE-7 good or should i look for a 10-band EQ? and does the EQ really help my tone because i figure this was similar to the Guitar port where the tone was okay and then once i set in the EQ it was a lot better. am i thinking right or am i outta my mind about the whole EQ thing...

You might want to wait until the Behringer clone of the Boss pedal comes out. The only difference in construction with all their new pedals is PCB mounted jacks, and plastic enclosures, but a noise suppressor is not really an effect that you turn on and off a lot, so if the sound quality is good, it might be a better idea than the Boss.

hey man, good call one the ns-2, ive had mine for a couple years now and ive never had any problems with it, now all the other guys in my band use them too. I wish i could help you out with the eq's but im not into them, im selling the one i got now. Have fun with the ns-2, it rocks.

I personally used my 10 band EQ for about a month, took it out of the loop last week. Almost too much crap to deal with. Don't put it infront of the amp though, it's noisy as hell.

Yep, the HUSH Super C broke down on me very quickly. It was a very cheaply made unit and the circuitboard isn't protected very well. A padded rack case would work for it (it's a rack effect, so it makes sense), but for the price, it definitely isn't a quot;road warriorquot;.

I bought a Boss NS-2 and it did the same job as the Super C without having to tweak it as bad. The Boss NS-2 really is an incredible pedal. I sold it to fund (what I think is a) true bypass noise suppressor, the ISP Decimator.

The ISP Decimator functions nearly identical to the Boss. I find I can cut a bit more noise with the ISP, but if I try to get every tiny little bit removed while I'm playing, I find that it doesn't cut off the notes smoothly. It is advertised as being the smoothest noise gate around and if you use it carefully, you can get it to work pretty smooth (and it's virtually unnoticeable). If I wasn't going for true bypass, I'd say the Boss is pretty much just as good and much less money.

The fact is, none of them out there will completely get you noise free while you're strumming/playing and still allow the sustain and smooth cutoff you need. However, I can honestly say the ISP as well as the Boss are both EXTREMELY effective at cutting down excess noise and that's really what it's all about. The HUSH Super C used to be the big thing, but with cheaper and better built effects out today, I can't imagine why anyone would prefer it.

you have a XXX did u really need the EQ? lol what i wanna know is if the EQ will help my tone? is it worth it? because if it's not really going to help i will either buy a new neck pickup for my other guitar or buy a chorus pedal, but i figured the EQ qould help out my tone a lot

It might, I bought it because I wanted to tailor my sound a bit more carefully. After realizing I already had too much highs dialed in (my cab's on the floor, that woulda been hell on the audience at gigs, too much treble!), I re-eqed and it sounds wonderful without it. When I start playing with it, everything sounds less raw, and I like rawness.

With an SS amp, I think it'd help quite a bit. If you buy from GC or someplace new, you can always return it within the 30 days, as well.

NS2 user here, for over a year.

Dmn. I love it so much that I'd buy an another NS2 just for having the pleasant feel of a worthy purchase

ns2 works great infront of an amp to kill noise from distortion pedals/other effects and even your guitar. when i changed to a tubed amp and stopped using alot of pedals infront of my amp i tried the ns2 in the effects loop of my dsl and it couldn't handle it. I have a tc electronics g-major and it has a noise gate in it. that works extremely well i can't imagine not having it.

so to cap it off, if your using it infront of your amp then it's worth its weight in gold. If you want to use it in the effects loop i would go a different route.

I have a MINT NS-2 for sale...

I have an OLD 1/2 rack BOSS NS-20 noise supressor that works really well, tho I never really use it. The BOSS gear seems to work really well.
