For the single coils how do you tell the diff between Classic and Hot?

For the humbuckers how do you tell the diff between the Classic and Metal?

I did do a search and saw the advice to compare with the sound clips, but when these pop up on eBay, that's not really an option. Any visible clues that I could give the seller to figure out which Live Wire pick up he has?

I thought it might be fun to put this set into a guitar for a $100, but only if the HSS set were metal/hot/hot (or maybe metal/hot/classic).
