Hey all, I just wanted to give some kudos to Ibanez on the RGA 121. I walked into the local store with the intension of buying a Jackson slsmg which I had read about but had not played yet. Well, hanging next to it was an RGA121 with the natural maple finish, so I told the guy to get them both down. I wasn't sure what to expect from either one but I thought I had a good idea. This assumption was based on the fact that I have guitars at home from both companies. A USA SL-1 and a Japanese RG431, everything everyone has said about the playability of the USA Jacksons is correct...once you play one your'e spoiled. Having said that I also appreciated the feel of the Wizard II neck on my Ibanez but it never felt quite substantial enough or nearly as fast as the Jackson.

To make an already long story short, I ended up bringing the Ibanez home. I looked both guitars over very carefully and found the craftsmanship of the Ibanez to be flawless...it played like a friggin dream too!! The prestige neck is absolutly the nicest feeling neck (to my tastes) I've ever played. Wider and MUCH faster that my standard RG neck, and more substantial too. It feels like a cross between the USA Soloist and the RG necks.....very very nice. It's a beautiful guitar too and sounds very good even with the stock Ibby p/u's. (which I will be swapping out)

Unfortunately the guitar shop didn't do Jackson any favors having that particular guitar on the wall. It was filthy, the strings were corroded and the volume pot was loose causing it to cut out while playing. Also the action was set almost too low, there wasn't any feel/feedback when playing it. I handed the guitar to the salesman and said he should display this guitar as a used item.

Anyway I recommend giving one of these a try if you see it hanging on the wall! Now, off to the pickup lounge for advise!

I think if an ibanez sounds good with stock pickups, then you know its gonna rip with some good replacments. I've also heard very good things about the prestige necks, i will have to try one sometime.

Forbes the prestige necks are killer! A perfect fit for me. Give one a try for sure when you can! D, I haven't replaced my digital cam yet but I may have to enlist a friend and post some pics....I have the natural top and not the violin stain. I wanted the violin well, until I saw the natural flat in person...trust me, it looks a whole lot better in person than it does on the website!
