I have Guitar Tracks Pro 2.0 and have not really used it. I can record stuff, but when I am recording I can't here what I am playing. I can here the other tracks but not the one I am putting down.
I remember with my old Tascan Porta Studio one I could.
I want to record my old pups then re-record the same track with the new custom DirtBucker

Can you hear the track when you play it back? Sometimes you get a mute function on these types of software ( I don't know Guitar Tracks Pro 2), because there is a delay through the sound card. The sound you hear lags behind what you are playing. You might need some form of external monitoring, or se if you can lift the mute. Bear in mind that it will probably throw your timing out.

I have G Tracks 2.0 as well and they offer a $100 upgrade to 3.0 - apparently well worth it. I hope to do it this summer as well as a new sound card. Are you still unable to hear while playing?

Some sound cards do not allow playback and record at the same time, expeciall if they are stock, or lower end soundcards. I found this out through personal experience. You will need to upgrade to a soundcard that allows playback and record, essentially 2 or more seperate channels. Go to guitar center and ask in the Pro Audio dept exactly what you need...they'll have it. Then go somewhere else and buy it for much less than they sell it for!

What Jeff said. Your sound card has to be working in full duplex mode. You may already have a sound card that supports full duplex, but it just isn't configured that way. Check your soundcard properties, documentation etc. before you buy a new one.

I believe there's a project option that you have to choose to record and playback simultaneously. I have the same software at home, and I'll double check tonite. Hold off buying new software or sound card until I do so.

I will. I look in a little bit, it is on my laptop. I know Cakewalk was trying to sell some type of PC card sound card for it. I am debating on getting a Tascan US-224 to record into or scraping the software route and buying an all in one unit. blah. did not want to do that

I just checked and I do have that setting set. but can't here anything while playing only after it is laid down.
Jeff_H what do you use to lay down tracks?
