a white blonde LP type guitar.
when i get a little more financially ahead of things i think i'd like to have one built.
you never see a white blonde Paul...i'd go with the light flame maple cap or a birdseye maple cap...nice aged honduran piece of mahogany for the body and neck...some dark rosewood for the board (25 1/2 scale...i know but i like it!) some locking tuners, push pull pots, aluminum tailpiece, some nice thick binding, an Alnico II pro set...
quot;I think I love you
So what am I so afraid of?
I'm afraid that I'm not sure of
A love there is no cure for...quot;
LOL!!!
I think it'll be cool.
Will you be leaving the mahogany natural color or will you be dying it?
Korina would be cool for the back and neck too, it being a lighter shade than mahogany. I've been GASsing for another Paul lately as well. It'd be pretty similar to yours, except for the scale length (24.75), a big sound chamber on the bass side of the body, and a pair of Antiquities.
i love white blonde!!
especially with those white/black pups
you can dye the rosewood on the fingerboard black for a great contrast. i dont know how much money id throw at the top, a flamed out one is gonna cost ya and you wont be able to see much of it unless you are really close but if ya gotta have it...
thick body binding is ok but keep it thin on the neck. even a normal lp std's binding is too thick, i prefer the thinner binding they use on the custom shop stuff
i don't know about the mahogany...i think natural would look pretty classy!
i know what you're saying about the flame top Jeremy...but the subtleness of the figuring is what i like the best about the idea...i absolutely love my white blonde ash p-bass...it has quot;just enoughquot; of the wood showing through the finish
of course i could make the body out of Ash...but i think i'll stick with mahogany for a more traditional LP sound?!
Very nice amp; classy looking......reminds me of a certain Tele I know!!!
I think I've only come across a couple Gibsons with that exact finish, and both were around $2500. Now you've got me thinking. If you could find a cheap beatup old LP like a cherry sunburst plaintop, you could sand the top down to bare wood, and refinish it in translucent white.
ooohhh...now that is an idea!? cherry sunburst is my least favorite and probably the most plentiful out there...?
if you could run across one with some finish issues that had a great neck on it...it could be re-finished in white blonde....that might be a much cheaper route than having one built?!
you're smarter than the average bear Jonsey!!!
That guitar looks really cool!
The only part I'm struggling with is the 25.5 scale length. It just isn't right!
LOL!!
i dunno man...maybe if i spent a little more time with a 24 3/4 scale guitar i would be more comfortable with it...at the moment i just tend to like 25 1/2 better, i guess i'm just more familiar with it and i usually play bass...so going from bass to a 24 3/4 is really strange.
if i did a refin...it would of course be a 24 3/4 so that's something i'd definitely have to take into consideration.
Nice - and I speak as one who doesn't like white guitars!
That guitar looks sweet. It's 10x better than the alpine white LPs that Gibson do, they are too white. They just look, sterile.
You might want to check out the new Gibson Les Paul Raw Power.
from : localhost/not exactly what you're looking for but close. Its just got a sealer over the natural maple top. All you'd need to do is lightly sand it down and put a blonde finish on it. That and remove those EMG's... I'm guessing by the pic you posted that their not exactly what you're looking for. It's not horribly expensive and you could sell those EMG's on ebay for about $120 easy.
Hope this helps.
yeah Hoss, use the zebra buckers, they'll look killer on that LP, definitely better looking than chrome covers IMHO.
Les Pauls ROCK!!
