I am tired of trying to fight the noise and hiss of strat bridge and neck pickups. I want some stacked single coils. What are the stacked SC's that are best for blues and general rockin' out? Rory Gallager sounds to Bell Bottom Blues to modern Wilco sounds and Tab Benoit.

Classic stack or vintage rails. I hear guys rave about the Dimarzio HS2 and HS3's ERic jouhnson and Phil Collen, but I never heard anyone rave about the SD noiseless pups.

What can you suggest for me? will it be better to stick with Fender or Dimarzio's for noiseless pups?

I used Classic stacks and Hot stacks in the past and while they were ok, they didn't do much for me. I now use Dimarzio HS3s in one strat and Virtual Blues neck, Virtual 2.2 middle, and Virtual Heavy Blues bridge in another strat. Between the 2 of them, I find the Virtual guitar more versital and can cover a wide verity of music. I have read some complaints about the Heavy Blues in the bridge, but I have no problem to get that pup to scream and wail IMHO.

what was wrong with the Classic stacks and the Hot ones?

I have gorren great results from both the Classic and Hot Stacks and the new Stack Plus pickups SD is getting ready to release are phenominal sounding.

Be patient and wait for the Stack Plus pickups.

I like Cool Rails, (wired in parallel), and Vintage Rails. Cool Rails wired normally, (series), have a different tone than I equate with Strat singles. But the Vintage Rails is great.

I've also tried Classic and Hot stacks. I liked them, but they're definitely a warmer, smoother tone than the Rails. (At least, in my set up.)

And don't forget, SD has some new noiseless singles due out shortly that are supposed to be the cats pajama's.

Dimarzio's Virtual series are cool, but I think I preferred my friend's Classic Stack to the VV. The VV just seem to be missing something. I am going to try these new Stack Plus pickups when they come out and if they don't cut it I'm just going to live with the hum and go with Surfers.

never realy tried SD single coils exept for that new special edition strat.. i think they're Alnico II Pro's or something wich sounded realy cool! But i realy love how my HS-2 and 3 sound and they sound great split too

I like my classic stacks. They sound like a Strat with no noise and can take a lot of gain too.The hot stacks may be the way to go for heavier rock,but I've never tried them.

i like the duncan classic stacks and the dimarzio virtuAL2s. i dont like the fenders
kinman makes some good noiseless pups too.
i think rob has a good idea. wait for the new duncan stacks

The Virtual Vintage series is great. Very quiet and a good strong tone. Probably the best noise cancelling strat pickups I have heard.

1 on the Classic Stacks. I have a Strat with all three, and I love the tone I get from them.

Never been a fan of stacked single coils. Love single coil sized humbuckers, though. Get a Jimmie Vaughan set somewhere..... they're awesome pickups, though they hum.

Get a Kinamn Blues Woodstock special. Awesome sounding. NOISELESS!!

The Jimmie Vaughan strat doesn't come with SC sized humbuckers. Does JV really use those? Who makes them? But, if they hum are they really humbuckers?

I think the HS-3's sound okay when split, but lack alot of character when they are humbucking. The YJM, which is a HS-3 but with staggered poles, is pretty much the same but less well balanced, IMHO. I mention that in case you want a vintage look.

I haven't cared for most of the stacked single coils I've heard. On the other hand, I've always been very impressed with Duncan's Rail series. Maybe you should try a vintage/cool rails setup?

I love the SD humcanceling singles. The classic stacks have a fatter slightly overwound sound, and the vintage rails/ duckbuckers have more of the classic strat sparkle. I personally like the Stacks because they smooth out some of the annoying brittleness of the traditional Strat tone, but they still have plenty of quack and bite. I would like to have a guitar with the vintage rails as well, just because I could use both tones. I also am really looking forward to the new stacks coming out.
