OK 3 really... first mistake was to continue to work on my tele while i was extremely tired.... I'm a shift worker and had 3 hours sleep the night before i went to work and stayed up for hours after i got home working on guitars....

second mistake..... I was adding a better string tree to my MIM tele.... It had one of those round vintage style tele retainer on the headstock... I noticed it made teh strings stick during tuning so i thought i'd replace it with one of the Fender American Standard Strat style of string tree.... With the American Standard string tree you have a screw whole and you drill a little hole for a post to sit in so the tree does not twist or move... Saddly i did 2 things wrong here... one was i added the hole one the F part of the Fender logo.... 2 was i drilled that little hole slightly wrong and off to the side slightly, and the string tree is sitting on a slight angle..... Looks like poop!

I took it off today and added the old string tree back to see how well it hides my mistake and it does a pretty good job..... You have to stick the headstock up in your face to see the little hole sticking out under the large vintage style string tree...

But for such a small hole what is the best way to fill in my mistake? maybe try to glue some round tooth picks in there? The bad hole is about the same size as a tuner screw hole maybe slightly smaller.... What is the best way to fill such small holes.?

I would say a little elmers wood glue and what ever kind of wood like a toothpick, scrap wood or you can just put a screw in it and say it helps gives you ultimate tone

I'd use a dowel.

Speaking of mistakes ...

I once tried to take a sticker (about 2x2) off my guitar by using my mom's nail polish remover.

By the time I was finished ... the entire bottom corner (from top of the bridge pup all the down to the bottom, to the middle of the stop piece) was ruined.

I was 19 at the time and the guitar was a '74 SG.

Finish is overrated anyways.
