So I got a PG installed in the neck on my LP, and while the high strings sound well-balanced and nice, the lower strings still retain some of the muddy characteristics that my old neck pickup had (Invader, and the crappy cleans is why I switched it).

The PG is great clean, but the distortion is not really what I'm looking for. Now, that doesn't really matter, as I'm mostly gonna use the bridge pickup for distortion work, but I was curious:

How would the sound change if I swapped the maghnet for an Alnico V (the clean sound that is)? And how would it alter the distortion?

Hay Coma,
I just did that yesterday to the Bridge PG in that Samick I posted about here last week.
we put a 5 in.. it helped with more highs. and more snap.

The 2 is thicker then the 5

also lowering that baby way down on the bass side may help for now

Good LuckRev. Donzo

In the neck it will make it brighter, cut the mids, and actually add bass. IMHO, I think you'll be better off lowering the pickup and raising the poles. That should give you more clarity overall

Cool, tanx guys
