close

i have a dimarzio virtual paf in the neck of my paul. i absolutely love the sound of it. i only have one problem, it's not a duncan. i am completely anal about my guitars and the stuff in them matching. i have a logo'd sd dist. in the bridge and would love to put a logo'd duncan in the neck. heres my question, which duncan pup, if any, would come as close as possible to replicating the sound of the virtual paf? any suggestions? i figure if i can't find one that replicates the paf i could always put some sd covers on it. but i would rather just have a real sd in the neck.

sorry, but gotta say it-
music is about the sound...not what it looks like-
if you've got the perfect sound why would you mess with it?
(unless you are after a new sound..that's my weakness

From the sounds of your subject line, I thought you were trying to amplify your butt!! You could always scratch the SD logo off, too.

i'm anal about sound, but even more anal about the appearence of my stuff. lol

thats why i say, i may just end up putting some sd covers on the dmz. god i'm awful

Maybe go Custom Shop if you think it's worth it?

I didn't try them but the Duncan Antiquities could be what you are looking for .

Put a SD back in it, and bronze it.
Put it up on the wall.
That's where we put things to look at.

SD's and Dimarzio's don't cross-rerference well, they are just different sounding lines.

The only thing that could be close would be the Blues Trembucker, but it isn't the Virtual PAF. The VPAF is mid and bass heavy.

How about a Duncan sticker and a nice polish? A Super 2 in the neck?

IMO, the black of the Dimarzio's are mean and nasty. They are just ready to do business. No polish needed.

virtual paf's have both their air bucker and virtual vintage tricks done to the A5 magnets. it would be difficult to get that sound with standard A2 or A5.
you can get SD's without the lettering. you actually like the big lettering?

what can i say, if i like a companies product, i'm a firm believer in advertising it. (although this is the first dmz i have actually liked, and i've tried quite a few) all my electrics over the last few years have had duncans with the logo's showin loud and proud. if it hadn't of been for getting the dmz with the paul when i traded for it, i would have never tried them. it blends really well with the duncan dist. i can set my amp and get a killer wylde tone from the bridge and swap to the neck and get the fullest chunkiest black sabbath sound i've ever heard. i think i will just try to find someone with the black humbucker cover labeled seymour duncan to put on it. i'm funny that way.
