I have removed the stupid Infinity bridge pickup from my Ibanez and replaced it with an SH-4..
when I removed the Infinity, the red and white wires were connected to the switch and the black was , well, I guess where it was supposed to be..
But, the SH-4 had a green and a black wire, and the red and white ones were isolated with tape and they were not used..
I made a stupid mistake and I removed the green wire, unwrapped the red and white and out them where the original INF red and white wires were..
I know I have made a mistake, but could someone please tell me why this is the wrong way to wire this pickup?
I should also add that the pickup works, but I have a feeling that the green wire was supposed to be fixed to something
I am a complete newbie on this, could someone help please?
thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum.Right now youre only getting half of that pickup.Remove the red and white and put them back together like they were before and tape em up again.Take the green and bare wire, put them together and attach them to ground (back of a tone or volume pot).Run the black wire to the switch and you should be set .It will sound much better than what you have now.You only use the ramp;w wire on an SD when you want to split the coils.Spend a little time hear and you can learn allabout it.Hope that helps.
Mate, thanks a million
I am definitely going to spend some time on this forum as I can see that there's some great people here who know everything about pickups /or pups as you call them
I can't wait to get home tonight to try this again
although it means another pack of strings will have to be thrown away
but nevermind
thanks again!
BTW, any suggestions for a neck pickup? I am into progressive and heavy stuff...and all I know is that the INF pickups have to go, all of them
For a neck ,go with the Jazz.Together with the JB you'll have all your bases covered and that is a great starting point in the world of Sd pups. The Jazz is probably one of the clearest and best sounding necks there is.
