Hey Just thought I'd post here before I take it to the repair shop.
It seems to make these loud popping/crackling like noises. Mainly when I play bassy notes. Im guessing sumthing has come loose.
Its not the lead or guitar. I duno of what help you can be but I guess Id like to hear what people have to say if theyve experienced this before
Thanks!
It could possibly just be a bad tube. When your amp is on and all warmed up, lightly tap on each tube. You will hear some tube noise to some degree coming from your speaker, but if the noise seems to be a bit excessive from one tube to the next that might be the culprit.
I've heard people having similar issues and it's almost every time been the tube sockets that crackle.
Actually, it may just be the tubes themselves. Tube rattle is quiet common with these amps. Replace the tubes first, before taking it into a repair shop.
Screw that! a whole new set of tubes wen i dont even no that the tubes are the problem? That sounds logical that the tubes would make that noise wen they rattle. ill check em out 2moro. They are all glowing equaly altho i didnt think to tap em.
New set of tubes will be cheaper that taking it to a tech

Instead of writing about it on a pickup forum, why don't you bring this issue up over at the Peavey amp forum for some additional advice? Although your probably gonna get the same advice you care not to take from me. If you want to take it to a tech and have them change the tubes for you, go for it.
It's your money.
there are tube holders, which get rid of the noise....
Yeah, the guy who makes those tube holders can be found over at the Peavey amp forum as well.

Nah this site is good enough. The point im trying to make is... wat if there is nothing wrong with the tubes and I get a whole set of new ones plus pay for repairs. My repairer will take a look at it for free and then tell me what ive gota do. plus it may still be under warrnty.
