I purchased a G12H-30 about a month ago under the guidance of Lew and others on the group! I installed it the day I got it (which took some real work, not extra work, but more than I expected) As with most things, I really got a charge out of doing the replacement myself. I allowed the what I believe to be the honeymoon period of about a month w/ about 10 gigs. Let me say...IT ROCKS! I was most dumbstruck and awe-inspired when playing slide. Having that round full bottom makes slide and neck work WAY more musical sounding (as far as the tone goes...I'm still working on sounding musical myself). Bridge work? Forget it. HUGE! MEATY! with the DRRI on about 6 I was in heaven, sure is a shame I have to play on about 2-3 at gigs!
Thanks to all parties involved
BTW- For those wondering...Dave @ Avatar Speakers is the real thing, great guy to do business with.!
I'm glad that you like it. Is there anything better than when you upgrade something and it exceeds your expectations? I think not.
You're right, Hamer. Not a thing in the world is better than a risk paying off
I wanted so badly to match 1 G12H-30 up with 1 Vintage 30 in my Vox 2x12 cab,but I couldn't get the G12H at Sam Ash 2 days ago....I Love V30s but my instincts and all of the great reviews tells me I need to try out that speaker..I think a V30 and a G12H-30 together could be a phenomenal sound..Glad it's working out great for you.We all know that we play at higher levels when our tone is inspiring...Pat yourself on the back for doing the work yourself brother!

I also followed Lew's advice, but installed the Hellatone 30 version from Dave in my DRRI.
I agree that it's a good combo - the DRRI can be a little finicky about tubes and speakers, but the GH12 30 definitely helps the bottom end.
enjoy

One of these days I'll grab one off E Bay...I saw quite a few of them on there..Dave has great prices on them also...I'm not pressed for it though and the V30s are great speakers as a pair...
The Hellatone 30....yes, yes and yes. Great bang for the buck, no doubt. I too put one in my DRRI and was amazed by the differance. Took the flub out of the low end, gave me more clean headroom and the overall fidelity greatley improved. And I've still got the original tubes in the amp!!
Looks like I am going to have to get one for my Deluxe. I have been meaning to do this also just haven't taken the time to order the speaker. I think the Hellatone 30 will be the way I go!!
i think that i'll be getting one very soon as well. The stock speaker has a power handling over kill, and it also dulls out that chime that one would expect from a deluxe reverb amp.
It sounds as if the Hellatone is cool too. I am pretty sure they are the same, but that the hellatone is proffesionally broken in. I totally reccommend either/or for YOUR DRRI! It makes it sound like it really wants to.
Thanks guys!
John: mixing the V30 and G12H30 makes for a spectacular sound. They really compliment each other beautifully. The G12H30 fill in the bass and mids for the V30 and the V30 adds its treble personality and cleaner tone to that of the G12H30. Probably the two best 12quot; rock and blues speakers ever made, IMO, and they sound even better together! Lew
I'd put a mojo version of the G12H30 in a DRRI in a heartbeat. Great speaker. American made.
