I'm thinking about my next build project, a JS-style body made of Black Limba (Korina), string through hardtail, with a 22 fret Black Limba neck/Ebony board. It will be a dual humbucker setup, and I'm having trouble deciding what bridge pickup I want to use. I'll be using a DiMarzio Air Norton (Alnico 5) in the neck (poke fun all you want ). I'm looking for lots of versatility from this guitar, anything from blues to jazz/fusion to rock tones. Now, since Korina is pretty similar tonally to mahogany, I was looking for some input about the CC in particular, but feel free to drop other recommendations.
I'm just looking for answers to basic questions really. How is it clean/dirty? Does it stay clear or muddy up with gain? Does it suffer from boomy bass, honky mids, or icepicky treble? How is it split? Etc, etc.
I preferred the CC's clips to the JB, another option I was considering, so now I'd like some player's opinions. Thanks!

Thanks!IMO Limba (Korina) sounds pretty different from mahogany...there a few threads here on that topic that you can search and se how I feel about it. I tried my CC in my Moderne (it's Limba), and I was not crazy about it...right now that guitar has a set of PG's and it's AMAZING
That said...what kind of bridge is the guitar gonna have???
Hipshot hardtail
I just read a few past threads on the mahogany vs. limba subject, looks like I'll be glad I decided to go with limba. FWIW, this pic is *not quite* what I have in mind for my project, but it's fairly close. I found this about 2 weeks after I started planning the project and knew right then I was definitely going to do it .
The CC is the right choice for that axe.

I'll beg, really.
I thinbk the CC will be fine...the MOderne is a 24 3/4 scale with a RW fretboard, and the CC was just a tad too fat sounding...in a 25.5 in scale, ebony fretboard I think it will be fine...the treble is no where near icepicky, the mids are VERY MUCH up front but not honkey, and the bass is smooth as hell!!! The only think I do not like about the CC is that it can be a little too compressed to my ears. I know youy are set on a DiMarzio for the neck but I must say that an Alnico II Pro or a PGn is a great choice for the neck pup with a CC in the bridge. PM me bro...now that the Strat is well on it's way we have something to talk shop about!!!
Good luck bro
The Black Limbas Tone tends to be bright with the Ebony fingerboard and the Floyd Rose Tremelo. Most pups will sound to bright in that guitar. The CC has more mids to even that out, and give you and all around great tone.
Mark my words.
Very cool. I'm not fixated on the DiMarzio, I have one on the way that I found dirt cheap, but if I find something else I like better I'm up for using it.

Mark my words.Excellent. As I said, that pic isn't an exact representation of what I'll be doing with this project. For example, it's 24 frets/Floyd, I'll be going 22 frets/thru body hardtail.

You will find through trial and error that Duncan pups will give you the ultimate Tone you are looking for. Enjoy the CC, it really is a great pup.
Well, I DO love the C5/Jazz combo in my Schecter . Maybe a Duncan in the neck isn't such a bad idea haha.

How did I know to expect a wise-acre comment when I saw your name Brent . TGWIF has me looking up info/clips about a PG in the neck... so who knows .
Really Bro....From what I have heard of your playing style and your interests in music, from what you have said, The Pearly gates would be killer for you.
I've checked out some clips and it sounds great in the applications they've been in. Very vocal sounding and expressive, which is right up my alley.
I'm outies for the evening, 'night all.
