Which gear did Dime use to record this album with Pantera? I'm talking amps, cabs, speakers, ALL pedals, guitars, pickups.... hell even strings... I love his tone on that album.
This was his rig he was using live at the time, hope that helps... he traditionally used a Bill Lawrence XL500 in the bridge before he went to an SD '59n/Dimebucker set. The guitars were strung with DR Tite Fit 9's and 10's.

Just so you know, I can approach his tone by using two EQs on either end of an overdrive pedal. Going into the pedal, I crank like crazy the mids centered around 500hz. Coming out of the pedal, I scoop them like crazy.
Hmm.. his live rig doesn't quite match up with what he had said..... I thought he just plugged straight into the Warhead with no EQ?

Here's what he did:
Dime used the proto-types of the Warhead head and matching cabs on that album, he then whent into a randall isolation cab and recorded his guitar parts from there--keep in mind that they recorded this entire album from his studio home.
Live is another story:
When playing live, Dime used two set-ups:
One: Straight into his Warhead with no other effects because they were all on that head.
Two: Into his Randall RG100 with all his other effects in his Rack (E.G. Furman PQ-3, MXR EQ, MXR Flanger).
At this time he was also using his Washburn Stealth guitars, loaded with a XL-500 and Duncan 59 in the neck, strung with a custom set of DRs that went from 09-46.
I hope this helps you in some way.
Didn't he use an XXL-500 (hotter, custom wound XL-500)?

I forgot to mention that one. That was right before he got the deal with Duncan.
