Hi is my les paul solid mahogony with rosewood fretboard gonne be naturally middy or bassy or what? its just i need a pickup to balance it out, along with my dark sounding amp. thanks
You may want to try a humbucker size p90 to brighten up the neck position. I hear the phat cat is cool. Les paul jrs and specials are solid mahogany, and p90s sound great on them. I play through an Orange amp which is dark sounding too. I think I'm going to put a couple phat cats in my 335, I'm not into high output pickups. Strats are my main guitars. Good Luck
mahog with 24.75 is slightly dark in my book- usually the bridge will cut regardless but luke nailed some good neck pups-
BTW, my favorite pup to open up the neck on mahoganey is the good old minibucker- Often overlooked and one of the major componatns in Tom Schultz and Duanne Almonds sounds to name a few-
Try a Fralin 7.5 in the neck. You will not regret it.
and in the bridge.......?
