I love this guitar. Here in australia, a site lists it for 1598 dollars australian, wich is about 1200 US. In the US the cheapest i found it for was 699. So i'm pushing the web site for a grand australian flat, with a hard case. How do you guys think i will go? High price just for show, or are they trying to rip people off?
I don´t know Schechter´c Australian Wholesale prices, can´t say. I do know that you´ll be paying more because of import taxes. add 100$ onto the US price to cover international shipping and 15-20% to the total and you´ll see roughly what that guitar should cost you... street price in your country shouldn´t be too much higher than that figure.
But quot;ripoffquot; is far from fair if they´re charging under MSRP.... Most guitars have a profit margin of 35% or less.... Online stores also buy in bulk for the most part and get bigger discounts that way.....
I´ll just say: If I hadn´t generally told the people quoting Internet and Mail order prices to order it online and deal with the warranty issues, (and that I will NOT accept warranty work on guitars bought online, which really hurts when you´re the only luthier in the area) I´d almost certainly have had 200k debt and not 100k when all the dust settled... half of theose prices were less than my wholesale price, I´m not a charity
That actually pissed me off the most, they come into your shop, spend 2 hours of your time getting info and play testing, go home, come back the next day with a price that´s making you very literally PAY THEM for buying it?? ANd then when they buy it online and rub it under your nose they want YOU to do a free setup because you´re the locall dealer and the other places is crap? Screw that, pay 50 bucks for your setup like everyone else... If you´d bought it here it would have been free :fing25:
yeah, they are selling it over the RRP, its RRP is 1299 in australia, they are selling it for 1599. I have a good luthier up here, who doesnt charge to much if something go's wrong. I have always had the saying, if something go's wrong, its my problem, but i wont be buying from that place again!! lol
THAT, sucks... then I´d definitely take my business eslewhere if they aren´t the best guitar shop in the known world (Then they could justify being over MSRP) and Solar System
but the thing is, they are about the only authorised online Schecter dealer in australia
Would buying one from the US and shippings it over there be any cheaper?
Heck yes it would, you'd just have to ship it to somebody in the US and have them get warranty work done ... not exactly the best scenario, it's like me buying japanese electronics, if it breaks you're kinda screwed.
the warranty part doesnt worry me, since ive got a good luither here, and i'm starting to learn about it all. Just finding someone who would find out the costs of shipping one to me would be a great help.
