hi guys,

what would be the best pickups in my Gibson Les Paul Studio (wine red)?

music is heavy rock, like Chevelle, Deftones etc. Mainly just heavy songs with clean melodic parts.

I also have an Ibanez sz320 (mahogany) guitar with a PRS HFS humbucker in the bridge position, which gives me a killer tone together with my Engl Powerball amp.

But which bridge pickup could give my les paul studio a killer tone with great definition for the style i play? thanks!

JB/Jazz combo. It's very versatile. Perfect for anything.

Erik is right.

Very versatile and can get as heavy as you want. The jazz in the neck slot of a LP style guitar is great, it actually has articulation.

That said also look at the custom. It's the SD that is most closely resembles the HFS. It has a hair more agression to it.

I second the Jazz neck in a Les Paul. Wonderful clarity and articulation. EQ of the Jazz also balances well with the natural EQ if the wood.

i use the JB/59 combo in an LP . its also very versatile.

For that style of music, an SH6 Distortion would be perfect. Surprisingly good cleans and it just screems nu-rock/metal when distorted.

If you are still using the factory 300K pots in your studio, the JB jazz wouldnt be bad at all. If you are not, and have upgraded to 500K pots, I would go for the custom/jazz. The JB will give you the sweetest sounding melodic and lead sounds but, I personally cant stand it for anything else. The JB is also versatile in the sense that it does everything OK. It does the things I mentioned GREAT but, everything else is OK at best.

Custom 5/ and either a 59 or Jazz neck. Order the set w/gold covers, and you'll have a Les Paul that sounds great from clean to midgain to highgain, but also has the bone stock look. The C-5 has tight percussive lows, neutral mids so your cleans will sound natural, and clear open sounding highend.
