Can someone direct me towards a schematic for re-wiring my 3 Pup Les Paul with some push pull pots to choose the pups in any combo I choose. Factory wiring is a bit lame.
TIA
Drew
Hi Drew; Welcome to the forum. Here's something from my archives. The middle pup is a single, but the wiring is the same.

I can probably do a better drawing later if you need, just right now I'm having phone-line problems, which is affecting how long I can be logged on. Hopefully the repairman is coming today.
Thanks ArtieToo,
If I understand the schematic correctly it shows 2 pots...right? The LP has 4. If so what do I do with the other 2? or has the heat and humidity affected my thinking? Are you on dial up? or paying more to get frustrated. Thanks again
Drew
Better solution: Use the standard two way switch like normal. Then, switch a tone pot to a volume for the middle pup, and use the remaining tone as a master volume. You get all combo's, and a cheaper hardware change. You can fade the pup in/out at will. There are a couple quick changes that you can't do...like middle on to neck bridge. But overall it's a good deal. Plans are available at borders/BArnes amp; noble in a guitar player maintenance book.
Vol= whatever volume you converted for the middle pup volume
Neck/Vol off = Neck
Neck/Vol on = Neck mid
Neck (neck vol off)/ Vol on = mid only
Middle / Vol off = Neck Bridge
Middle / Vol on = all three !!!!!!!
Bridge / Vol on = bridge = middle
Bridge / Vol off = bridge only

Yeah, you're correct. I threw that up real quick. Its a drawing from an answer to someone who wanted to do the same thing with a Strat. Its not really usable for you the way it is.
But more importantly, I think Aceman's idea is better. It makes it easier and gives you more useability and ease of use. If you wanted to keep it real simple, do a slight variation of what Aceman suggested. Put the neck and bridge on a standard 3-way, then add the middle with a single push/pull pot. You can then get every combination there is, and in an easy to use control layout.
thanks guys
Aceman Im looking for that book. I found The Player's Guide to Guitar Maintenance. Is that the one? from : localhost/search.barnesandnoble.com/boo...79305495amp;itm=4
