Hi all,
here is my setup:
* guitar : Godin artisan ST
* PU config : H/S/H bridge : APH-1 alnico II pro middle : SSL-1 (RW/RP) neck : SH-1 ?59 model
* 1 volume (250K pot)
i use a 5-way swith, and HBs are splitted in position 2 and 4, to have the famous quot;funkquot; strat sound in these positions.
The 4th position sound is tremendous, when the SH-1 ?59 is splitted (i use the coil close to the bridge) : i really recommend it to get a SC sound from a HB !
=gt; everything sounds really great, except in position 2, where i can't really get the classic quot;funkquot; strat sound : it si too treebly and too loud. When i descrease the Volume knob, i get closer to what i want, but i loose dynamic and the sound generally becomes too dark.
Note that when slpitting the bridge HB (APH-1), i use the coil close to the middle SC with the middle one (SSL-1), which i found is betted than using the coil close the bridge.
Any ideas ?
Is the APH-1 not the good one to be splitted and to get such a strat sound ?
Should i use a regular SSL-1 (not RW/RP) ?
Thanks,
J.

Hey man, Welcome to the forum!
First I'll say that I' really like the APH-1 (A2P) in the bridge slot, and Godins are awesome guitars!
What you will find when using PAF style pups split is that the sound can be shrill, or weak, it all depends on the pup. When folks split their buckers they usually have better luck with higher output pups. The Custom Custom is a pup that sounds pretty good split, and great in bucker mode. The custom custom is like an overwound A2P, more mids, but less lows and highs.
As far as the RWRP goes if it is quieting the guitar down then you should definitely leave it in.
Hope that helps!
Luke
thanks for your answer.
I am very happy with the APH1, so i don't want to change it ...
What about trying a 500K pot instead of my actual 250K to quot;softenquot; the output ?
