OK, I now have a Rivera S120 stereo guitar amp and a 71 Traynor YBA-1. I need help on choosing a cab. I am thinking an open back 2X12. I have read that Riveras are voiced for the G12 85 watt Celestion. In the old days the Rivera's commonly were set up with EV's.
I am considering a pair of Eminence Governors or Texas Heats for the cab. Eventually I plan to have 2 cabs, i closed back for the Marshall side of the Rivera and an open back for the Fender side. This cab needs to work with the Traynor as well.
I like to use both dirt and clean, especially full and throaty sounding tone. Help me choose a speaker and cab that will get me there. NO 4X12s please, just to large and to directional for me.
Thanks for the advice.

Pls define quot;too directionalquot; ... do you mean quot;too much dispersionquot;? Or quot;too point specificquot;?
Because anything smaller than a 4x12 is going to be very point specific.
I use a Rivera 4x12 top and a Hiwatt 4x12 bottom. Sounds fantastic!
