I'm new here and was thinking that maybe y'all could help me.

I got myself a Mexican Fender Fat Strat. Compared the the 1991 USA Strat I had that got stolen, It feels and sounds just as good. But, I want to modify it into my quot;dream stratquot;. Here's what I want to do.

Currently, It has of course a Fender Humbucker and 2 singles. I have a TB14 Custom 5 Trembucker that I want to put in it and I also want to replace the single coils with Fender Texas Specials. Here's the tricky part. Currently, the way the intrument is wired: The Fiveway selector switch starting in the first position (closest to the bridge, all the way down). 1=Humucker, 2=one coil from the Humbucker and the middle single coil, 3=Middle single coil, 4=Middle Single coil and Neck Single, 5=Neck Single coil only.

Now changing the pickups I'm not worried about but I want to make a slight change in the wiring. Instead of that current split humucker thingy I get in position 2 of the switch, I want to eliminate that effect so that position 2 would normally be a full humucker and the middle single but I want to have my humbucker coil split activated by a push/pull pot on the volume control.

Now the best wiring schematics I've found (best in the sense of clarity, color coded and easy to read) were here. But they don't have that that particular config. Which seems strange because I'm sure this is a common mod and I've looked all over the web. I've found a few but they weren't very readable.

Anyway, is there anyone who can recommend or provide me with a clear/color coded wiring schematic for this particular mod. My main thing I need is to know how to wire the Humucker to the 5 way switch and to the the push pull pot to get this effect. Thanks in advance. Peace. Karl

Seems to me all you need is a wiring diagram for a standard (traditional) Strat set-up.

The only change from there is to just put the push/pull switch between (circuit-wise) the humbucker and the 5-way switch and have the push/pull feed the 5-way whichever mode it has the humbucker in, single or full.

Zhang's got it more or less. Just quot;standardquot; strat wiring: from : localhost//support...l_1tone_5w.htm except that didn't say how you want the tone control(s) to work. Use the other side of the 5-way switch for that.

Wire the push/pull to ground the series connection between the 2 coils like this: from : localhost//support...oil_split.html

OK here's quot;stockquot; Strat wiring both in schematic and graphic form from : localhost/ I prefer to have tone control with the bridge pup on alone (position quot;1quot;), and there are a couple of ways to get there. Explore the S-D schematics, GuitarNuts.com and GuitarElectronics.com.

Oh, I forgot to mention that you want to make sure that the polarity and winding direction of the middle single coil and the humbucker's coil that is left quot;hotquot; (i.e. on) when you split are opposite so that you get humcancelling in position 4. Unfortunately, I don't know what the specs on the Fender single coils are and forget which way the S-D pickups work with the quot;standardquot; split shown above.

Hope this helps more than it hurts.
