I play a Les Paul Studio with stock pickups through a Boogie Single Rectifier and Marshall 1960A cab. My problem is that I am getting too much bass, specially at one particular frequency. I tried changing tube type and went from a 6L6 to EL34...sounds good but still too much bass. Should I lower the height of the pickups? I'm also thinking of putting in a Full Shred in the Bridge and a Pearly Gates in the neck...what do you think?
(By the way, my Bass setting on the amp is around 1 or sometimes all the way down....and I usually play in an open D tuning)
Thanks for your help!

if you like the output level, but not the sound you are getting from you guitar, you should lower the pickups themselves, and raise the pole-piece screws. A good idea is to start with the screws set to the radius of the neck (with the outside screws lower, the middle screws higher) and then adjust to your liking from there.

Cut bass, and at the same time boost the mids and treble.
