I am thinking about something along these lines for the FLAMEKASTER'S
color scheme. I may try to outline the flames in some sort of white or off white. The whole theme is to keep this puppy minimal. I plan on a rub on stain. What do yall think? Oh and remember that the flames are carved in!
i honestly think it would be sinful to not stain the flames a different color.

Given my guitar finishing skill level which is less than pathetic, I am just very cautious about ruining a perfectly cool guitar. I mean seriously.... how often do you come across a guitar body that cool???
get a real thin paintbrush and paint the stain on real slowly in the flame areas. also masking it off should be real easy if you wanted to do that. just lay the tape over it and press it into the grooves around the flames. then take a razor blade and lightly follow the grooves and cut out the flames. then stain the flame areas. when that dries reverse mask it and cover the flames and cut out and stain the rest. then use another tiny paint brush and some black paint and outline the flames and other grooves. real easy.

I agree....
Take a look at this stuff from : localhost/You could stain white or yellow on the inside. Or mix a custom color.
.............But what do yall think of the general mixing of colors(greens and whites)? I kinda dig the Mint Green guard!!
When you posted the first thread about this, didn't someone suggest a simpler way of double-staining? Fill the flames with something like red, then quickly wipe off the surrounding areas so they don't take the stain. Then, once that's dry, just stain the whole thing Yellow, which would give you a yellow body and orange flames?
At least, that's what *I* got out of the description of that other method.
Thats definately the way to go, it will look amazing with two colours!
I agree, it needs to be two-toned. I also don't think that either color should be a minty or a pale green, but that's just my opinion.
That's a wild body. Nice flame pattern too. The color you picked looks kool. The ash is grainy enough to do a 2 tone color. Lacquer is best for this, dries fast and you can shoot thin. Might be kool if you can pour black resin in the routes.
IMO if you buy a guitar body with flames on it, ya dont go for a 'minimal' finish, youve gotta make that thing look as cool as possible. The colours nice, but that finish isn't what i'd go for on a guitar as flashy as that.
I love the idea you've got going. I personally think the mint green/ natural would look really good on that body (which is killer by the way). I think it'll have a nice hotrodded/vintage look to it. Can't wait to see the final result man, good luck.
