So how versatile is this thing? I checked one out today, and really enjoyed it, but only played for about 5 minutes. Just about anything (unless it REALLY sucks) will sound good for that long. I'm curious about how good it would sound with a modeling device used in front. Any opinions?

I play my VAMP through mine quite a bit. The B.J. gets nice and clean, so it's good for the moddler. If you're planning on using the amp by itself and wanting some good overdriven tones, I'd recommend swapping out the tubes, but that's not too expensive. After I made that switch, I love the amp. Well, I loved it before, but more now.

I have the limited edition one, with the Jensen speaker.

Its an awesome amp for classic rock and blues.
Some drawbacks though:
1. Forget about getting good metal tones out of it. This amp is just meant for overdrive. You won't ever be able to get a rock hard palm muting thump out of it.

2. The reverb sucks. It's very artificial sounding.

Otherwise - pretty great amp for Eric Clapton, Classic blues, classic rock tones. It can do AC/DC very well. I also play jazz on it - and it sounds great. But anything metal - forget it.

One of these days I have to get some cash together for a little Lanieli reverb, EC Electronics Chorus/Flanger, and a delay of some kind, and then i'll be in heaven.

You may want to get the reverb checked. Mine sounds great, but it died shortly after I got it. I had to get it replaced. While I was waiting on the repair, I was reading up on it and found that a lot of people had problems with the reverb. Now that it's fixed, it sounds great.
That does remind me, you should make sure you buy it from a reputable dealer with a good service dept. in case it happens to you. I haven't heard of any other troubles with the amp, but there are a lot of people that got bad reverbs.

Trace over at Voodoo is doing a mod for them now to get it quot;plex-ishquot;. They just updated the Voodoo site with all the new mods/options.

I'm thinking about grabbing one and having him work his mojo. PLexi-type tone in a small 15 watt package that doesn't cost over a grand? Plus it will drive an external cab? Hmmmmmmm....I'm thinkin with EL84's it will sound kinda similar to an 18 watt Marshall..somethin I've been jonesin for lately.

I've played through them before stock, and thought it was nice...def not a tweed or BF, but a good quot;genericquot; fender type tone.

Peep This:

I did most of the mods on this page and my Blues Jr. went from a toy to an all-out killer amp for gigging with.

This dudes Blues Jr. Mod sounds Awesome...

Gotta scroll a couple pages into the site..soundclips at bottom. Almost has an 18 Watt Marshall sound to it. I think I'm gonna do this (i.e. buy a BJr.and have it modded). It will suit my needs.

Saw a used Blues Jr today at the shop in great condition and $200 less then new..... Being a Who Fan that amp could come in handy for lower volume Who sounds i would think... Pete used many Fenders in the studio over the years. His studio sound and his hiwatt live sound are different...... I should go back and grab it!

Sweet, man. I'm going to have to check those out, too.

Wow! It's definitely pumping out some Marshall-like overdrives after the mod. Very impressive! Hmmm.....Blues JR. eh

I have a Blues Junior Limited Relic it is a great amp for me. I play blues and good ol rock n' roll and this thing smokes for that. It is a very loud (useful loud) 15 watts. Mine has the 12' Jensen. I have had so many amps it's stupid and believe it or not this one is my favorite next to my old Mesa Rectoverb ( had to sell in the apartment days. The reason it works so well for me is that the environments I play in I can crank this one to really milk the tubes without killing everyone.s ears. It has a really good clean tone too. I wish it had a little more bottom end so I may be looking into mods. The reverb works but I prefer a Blackface's reverb so this isnt the highpoint of the amp to me. It takes my pedals really well, but dont try to become a metal star with this amp or any super distortion pedals through the amp. I have the following 535 wah--gt; TS9DX--gt;small clone--gt; DL 4 Delay. It awesome. My girlfriend always kids me when I get a new guitar or amp and I say that I will keep this one forever and the 2 months later sell it, I can truely say that I want to keep my BJ Relic around for all my days!! Check mine out from my signature the Reliced ones are so cool looking. I can't tell you how many people think its an old 50's Fender tweed.
