I read another thread (New Zakk wylde Wah!!!!!) on this site, that the ZW-44 is just an Boss Distortion with minor changes (Dankerella said so).

Is this true?? If so, can anyone do the mod, or tell me how to do it myself??

Guitar World classified the ZW-44 as the best OD they ever tried, so it can't be that easy....?!?

It is very similar to the boss pedal.

Guitar World praises pretty much everything in it's reviews cuz they don't want to piss of the companies that advertise their products in GW.

Haha, so true.

apparently it's based off the boss od-1, with more low end

I have one and it sounds O.K. The switch has been bad since I got it. Sometimes it works, other times I get this ultra compressed 1/3 output wah like tone that sucks, which happens more often then not. It doesn't have as much output as the sd-1 ,which is what I thought it was modled after, but I could be wrong. Personally, I think the SD-1 kicks its a$$ all over the place.

I own one. I love it.

I was looking for OD pedals and didn't really like what I was hearing. On a whim, and totally against my quot;not using signature/artist endorsed gearquot;, I had the sales guy plug one up. After spending five minutes with the thing I was sold. I use the ZW as a boost/light distortion. Great pedal though, you should check it out.

I know several people that are very happy with their ZW overdrive pedals.

I have both and the ZW is defiinitely my favorite.I use it all the time as a distortion boost and love it.

I have a ZW OD too and I like it a lot. I mainly use it as an alternative OD away from my modified Tube Screamers. It sounds more aggressive/strong than the SD1 and it doesn't lose low end like the SD1 does. The volume control is pretty strong and the Tone control is pretty effective wherever you set it. The gain has a good amount, I would say a bit more than your average OD pedal.

But, these suckers can be NOISY. Now I'm not talking about running the gain wide open into an already hot amp, I mean even with your volume down. I tested out several of my other overdrives with the guitar volume down, and the ZW at moderate settings. It was by far the noisiest when clicked on out of all my ODs.

I've also heard of people talking about the switch and thought I read some more indepth info regarding this. That Dunlop knew and offered to fix it, but I don't know the details. My switch has been funny a few times, not going all the way on/off...

But in general, it is a pretty good pedal.MJ

It is a nice pedal though

woah. why is the light on that one blue?

I only kick mine on occasionally, so I haven't experienced the bad switch. You guys better not jinx me!

I also think the ZW, while not radically differant, isn't quite the same beast as a Boss Distortion.

It's actually white, I didn't like the dull red one so I switched it out

MJ

oh. Yeah, the red led light is pissing me off a little too. Everytime I hit my pedals I'm seeing red! Screws with my rods amp; cones!

here's a start maybe:
from : localhost/dude said: quot;Take an SD-1, remove the output buffer, double the value of the tone caps. That's all.quot;
Source: from : localhost/hope I didn't ruffle any feathers with my first post...wasn't my intent.

Thanks for the replys, everyone.

As I've stated before I live in Norway and the stores in my area don't carry every make or model, so I realy value your opinion.

I'll take my chance on this one, so I'm ordering a ZW-44!!
