So basically, a friend of mine is a decent singer, and she likes the Tool/APC sound. I've never really played stuff like this, although I do listen to and enjoy both bands, I usually play more...I guess, straightforward music. Sometimes I dig the long intros in metal, but it's still a more in-your-face attack, ya know? Anyway, here's my gear:
Brian Moore i2 (JB bridge, Alnico Pro neck)
Crate VFX5212 (50 watt, 2 12quot; tube combo)
Boss Metal Zone
Boss Super Overdrive
Boss V-Wah
Behringer V-Amp Pro (Hardly use)
I also have access to these, my roommate's pedals:
MXR Phase 90
DigiTech X-Series Compressor
DigiTech X-Series Flanger
Boss DelayNow, my amp has onboard reverb, delay, chorus, etc. And I'm already assuming to get that sort of sound and style, I'll need a lot of reverb, correct? But...other than that I'm a little at a loss. Any suggestions?
I should think you'd get the right ball park type tones out of your gear, at least close, can't tell you how though, sorry.
don't abuse the gain...tool doesn't have an overly distorted sound...thick, usually, but not as distorted as a Soilwork, or something to that effect..
