Any users? What are your thoughts?
IMO, it's the best clean boost overdrive ever made. It's hard to describe, but unlike most other OD pedals, it actually improves the sound of your amp, in the same way a tube mic preamp improves a vocal track. It's a very neutral sounding pedal, although it adds a sort of bounciness under your fingers that's pure joy to play with. I've had a lot of good OD pedals, and there's a reason the Klon is the #1 rated OD by most pedal afficionados. It's a perfect design and the owner even pours black glue all over the circuit, just to thwart off copy cats. It's one piece of gear I'll never sell.
Yeah Dude, I love my KLON. Like a lot of other stuff, I think that there is mucho hype surrounding this pedal, but I can say that I got a great sound, right out of the box, and there is almost NO setting which doesn't sound okay.
One thing that's weird, many sayy this is a bit of a quot;low gainquot; pedal. Now, maybe it's just that I don't play metal or something, but I almost always have the gain at 12:00 and the Output at 3:00, or even less. It seems to have more gain than I can imagine requiring. I guess the most telling thing about this pedal is that I haven't thought of selling it, even once, in spite of the insane mark up on eGay. The other telling fact is that I didn't regret the $300.00 price tag, nor the 3 month wait, dammit.
I also have a TS9, modded to 808 specs by the AnalogMan (the 'brown mod') and it's a great pedal too, though totally different than the Klon (much less compressed, more of a jump in the mids). I think it is a great sound to have in conjunction with the Klon, I actually use both pedals at the same time, though only in their respective 'clean boost' capacities...
Long story short, I love my Klon. Mr. Finnegan is super cool.

A lot of makers are doing that now, there's some goo over a few parts in my Zendrive, and I guess the Fulltone OCD is DRENCHED in the stuff.
That's a good tactic, but is it really impossible to remove that glue?

The booster I ordered is going to be covered in epoxy. They can advertise it as quot;protecting the circuit.quot;
I think the black glue also serves to shield all the components from interference from neon lights etc. The main reason is to keep amateur pedal makers from reverse engineering their design.
I think there's two primary types of OD's.....the TS808/9 type and the Klon clean boost type. I notice a lot of players using both types on their pedalboards.
I was going to get an improved SD-1 as a booster, but I decided to go with a clean boost instead of OD, so I'm getting an onboard JFET booster on a push/push pot for my Charvel.
