How would this sound? I will prob end up with a Custom in it, but dont have the $$. I want want to make the guitar aggressive
leave the gibson pickups inside a gibson......i will probly sound killer, but all gibsons are made of mahogany, the jackson is an alder body, so i think that pickup will probly sound too bright..
I actually am gonna leave it alone. I put a Mr Brownie in it awhile back but had really got to work it out tonight on the half stack.. Whoa it sounded amazing!
I like Gibson pickups but the 500T is not one of their best. It's like a Custom 5 with the worst qualities of the treble magnified. On the other hand, you might be able to blunt some of that shrillness by replacing the center ceramic mag with an Alnico 5 or 4.

Or by flipping it 180. It balances it out quite nicely.
You talking about Rolling it over or turning like a propeller?? I actually put a Genesis Sounds Mr Brownie in it and get a nice brown outta my purple axe.

Like a propeller. (Wouldn't work that good with the coils facing the body. At least that's what people told me... ) I did that to a 500T while it was housed in my '92 Epiphone S-310. Beautiful midrange growl, kinda like a tighter Thin Lizzy quot;Jailbreakquot;-sound. Sounded great on Van Halen riffs, too.
