Now I know there are so many passives compared to actives, and that the tonal range is really quite large to make a very specific decision.

But if I asked you, on an average day - choose a guitar loaded with x type of pickup, what would you choose?I'm not asking you which one is BEST, I'm asking which one you would generally DRIFT TOWARDS.Yes, a poll like this has been done in the past, but I would like to see how the SD forum has changed in general preference since it has been quite a while since a similar thread popped up.

No arguing, or flaming the nature of this thread please, just voting

passives all the way

Passive for me.

I like both, I haven't had much experence with passives, but I'm hoping by my next guitar to have a full passive setup.

Passive, definitely. It's enough that I have to buy batteries for my pedal, nevermind for my pickups!

Plus, better tone, IMO.

Passive definetly no questions asked

I would like to experience passives a little more, as I've heard they have a lot more to offer than actives. So I voted passive.

Passive all da way

damn no one like active yeassh

Passives... I do not like the idea of having a 9v battery in my axes

I can't really say i prefer one over the other. I juust use them differently and so theres no clear winner for me.

1.. both have their uses and tones, I use EMGs, Duncans and Jackson Pickup/preamp systems almost exclusively

You know my answer.

Passive for guitar, active for bass, and I'd still like to get an active loaded guitar.

Another passive guy here.

I voted passive, but perhaps thats a bit silly since I've never tried an active. I do have it, though, somewhere down on my wish list to try a set of LiveWire Classics in my Predator.

I have no need for actives, i am confident the passives can fullfill every need i currently have, without the extra hassle of batteries.

you guys know me, for my playing style if it doesn't sound vintage then it isn't for me. I played a few actives but i have never owned a guitar that has them. None of them ever sounded right to me

Half my guitars are active, the other half passive....but I voted active because that's what my main axes have.

Active, as one of my two main players will be EMG loaded, and the other has passive pickups with an active mid-boost.
