So I was at Lamp;M dropping off a PA rental, and I happened to wander into the guitar department. As I usually do, I had a look at the lefty's they have in stock to see if anything looks interesting. Usually there's three or four Mexi-Strats and a couple of Epi LP's, but this time there was a Fender USA Strat that caught my eye. I asked one of the sales guys about it, and he said someone brought it in on trade-in earlier that day. Here are the specs:
Fender American Standard Stratocaster, Left Handed. made in 2000
- flawless 3-color sunburst body
- light-colored rosewood board (a bit of oil would probably darken it up)
- three single-coils (model unknown)
- graphite nut
- some sort of after-market saddles
- everything else stock Fender
I gave it a try through a Hot Rod Deluxe, and it was Strat heaven. Fast, comfortable neck, great construction, and man did those pickups sound good! Basically an ideal S/S/S Strat. The only thing I would change is to replace the quot;quot; pup covers with plain white (I like a clean look on my guitars).
Here's the best part: since Lamp;M doesn't factor in after-market mods when they set the price on used gear, they are asking for only $860 CAN (about $700 US) for this beauty! How can I pass that up?
The only trouble is, I can't afford to buy it outright at the moment. I have $140 available to spend, and could probably trade in a couple of pedals for $60. That leaves $700 or so if you include the tax. The store is offering 0% 6 month financing on all Fender gear, and I know I can pay it off long before that, but my lovely girlfriend is wary of taking on debt. She will be super pissed if I come home with that guitar knowing that it was bought on credit.
So before this Strat goes home with someone else, I have to either: a. raise $700, or b. convince the gf that this is a worthwhile thing to buy on credit.
Please help me resolve this severe case of GAS! Thanks in advance!
Damn... If you were buying of MF or something like that, I could've helped you. You see, I've had G.A.S. on this Black Beauty for some time now. And I knew I didn't have sufficient funds, so I did the next best thing and I added the item to my shopping cart. It's great. I know that my Les Paul is just sitting in that cart, waiting for me and my wallet to catch up. So it's like, basically, it's already mine, you know? I mean, if it's in my cart no one else can take it. Just like grocery shopping. Everyone knows that if it's in someone's cart, it's obviously out of reach. You know? You can't buy it.
Heh... pretty smart, huh?
