Well, I had to deliver the Bad Cat Black Cat combo I've borrowed for two weeks today. It will definitely leave a void here with me. Really liked that one.

But I can look forward to receive a Mesa Boogie Lonestar Special in about a weeks. It was supposed to be 7 more weeks, but they called me today with the good news.

I know it won't be the same but...

I just wish I could afford a tube amp.

Do you think the Bad Cat is worth the money for those who can afford it ?

It depends on getting the one that suits your style best. My preferece is for the Hot Cat 30 and 100 heads on top of a 4-12 or 2-12. If the Vox style is your thing, the Black Cat 30 is more appropriate. They're still super expensive. There's lots of good amps out there for less. Finding a place to hear them all is the hard part.

I really like this amp. I had the chance to compare it to a Matchless DC-30 and they are both great amps. Pretty much the same, but I just liked the Bad Cat better somehow. When my old lady is done with her hizzyfit after my last GAS (the Lonestar Special on order) I will try to get hold of one.

I had a Trem Cat for a while until I played some Two Rocks. Sold the Bad Cat a week or two later. Two entirely different tones, but whereas the Bad Cat was like the ultimate Vox kinda AC30ish tone, the TR seemed to massage opiate receptors in my brain a huge amount more.

Hi, Scott_F

Never tried Two Rock amps. As far as I know, no one imports them to Norway. But if they beat Bad Cat/Matchless amps, they'd better be good!

Well, the Two Rock does to a Fender/Dumble circuit what the Bad Cat does to a Vox/Marshall. Different tones for sure. I am just way more into 6L6 type tones than EL84 tones in the long run. I always migrate back to the fenderish stuff.

I'd say they are on equal footing, both built like a tank, just different voicings.

I just bought a Black Cat Cub II R, and I love it. It has the biggest low end I've heard in a 15-watt 1x12 combo, and the tone stack is incredibly versatile. I got a great deal on it, so buying boutique was reasonable in this case. It's as heavy as I care to carry around and 15 watts suits me more often than not. I have a BF/blonde Fender Tremolux 30-watter when I need more umphf and 6L6 tone. Life is good...
