put a shorter JB A5-in AntiQity Humbucker neck the shorter magnet has less inductance making a brighter clear tone -- also the Tele has 250k volume and a 500k tone pot helping ballance the 250k vs. 500k single/humbucker load debate
Next I wound a 11k Tele wire 43 enamel -- its a thinner wire then 42 thicker gauge is.
The pup I used had some strong A-5 magnets that were raised poles-yet they were--even-across, (no stagger ) this allowed me to to a Trick-- allowing me to raise the actual bobbin height - thus making a Taller Tele..
that helps get rid of musshy tones and gives it a jazzy-ier sound. Over all-- the bridge is powerfull yet very Tele like-- this was the old Broadcaster winding -- ala 43awg wire wound to 10K
Its also the prefered Tele wind for keith Richards,
It's got that total Classic RockStones Tele thing going on strong and its actually better for Chickin' Pickin' too..
The neck is really-really-really good-- I'm not a neck Humbucker guy but this thing is changing my ways-- it's really sounding increadible..
Arrrrr, matey. Sounds like fun! Let nothing but fear stop you....
nice project rev!
what is the value of the capacitor your are using?
it's good to know you could narrow down what you wanted, wind it, and have it come out the way you wanted
I had a hard time balancing a tele bridge with a neck HB, so I kind of agree with you about using 10K in the bridge
ahh man--- thanks fer rappin back at me bros!
I'm totally diggin the socks off of this Tele-- sheesh!
I put it up against my mean -arse Roy Buchanan machine - and I could'nt wait to put this Rolly Stoney Tele back in the amp--
Fuuny facts..the Cops never come here,
I cranked this Tele up to STAGE level when i first got it done then Aamp;B ied it to my other Tele Then called a pal Danny Ott ( Guitar Doctor West) to let him know his 10k 43awg. wire Tele pup was also finished-- and I played a few licks for him over the phone-- maybe 8-10 min's. tops play time-- sound checking and COPS were in my Drive... but i was not playing when the drove along side my pad... and they sat there a few miniutes and left??????

hey-- I always try to use .1 mfd Oil papers NOS caps. they cost 20-40 bucks on EBay...
the reason for the darker .1MFD -- is i use it as a wha-wha effect -- its fussy trying to find a sweet jazz setting -- because the tone pots whole 1-10 sweep is reduced to 1-3 when using .1's

lmfao!Rev,
Have you ever tried the Fender Texas Tele pickup? It's my fav tele lead pickup and its DC resistance is 10.5. I'm just wondering how close it might be to your wind...
Mine is very microphonic at this point. I'm wondering if having it rewound will make a difference.
yea-- the 42 wire at 10k is a BIg-dog fatty- while 10k 43 wire is more like a 7.7k 42 wire pup.. yet the 43 wire pup is more powerfull and agressive-
if I wanted to match your 10k texas-- i would have to go to 12.5k with wire 43-- still they would be close yet wire 43 would be louder..etc..
wire 42 does have more pf that pretty Gibson paf bell then 43 does but the extra winds needed when usin 43 makes for some nice bell all its own..
Mine is very microphonic at this point. I'm wondering if having it rewound will make a difference.
in most cases a little then layer of wax inbetween the base plate will cure it, I drip it on then I smear it with the solder iron's round barrel-- then i scrap most of the bulk off with a razor then i place the metal Tele base plate back on and heat it up with the soldering iron untill more wax drips out. then alingn the 3 screw holes- or put the screws in before it cools-possibly with the screw clearance holes -out of alingment- with the base plates..
before I start all this I bend the base plate ever so slightly to take all the air out I can.. i do this holding it to a lifgt for inspection.. if i see light between the pup and the base plate I bend the plate and sometime even sand both bottoms and even grind a magnet when i can--
Idealy for 50-66 Tele Twang tone-- there is no wax on the base plates- yet they need to seat together with no air gap at all or the signal will bounce around in that space and create that microphonic squeel.
cheers.
