I have a Blues Junior Relic and was wanting to experiment with an additional cab. With it being a special edition it comes with a Jensen speaker which I love but it is not very bassy. It smokes for blues and rock, but it just lacks in punchy bottom end mainly when palying clean. It has another 1/4' jack next to the current speaker plug. Could I run another cab in addition or could I just add the new cab and unplug the other speaker for different applications and sounds? Does anyone have any plans for a Blues Jr. sized cab? I would love to build it myself.
The blues junior is open-back, yes? If you're gonna build a cabinet, you might wanna make it a closed back for tighter, punchier bass.
It is an open back. I have had many open back amps before that were bassier. I am guessing that its the speaker. My old Deluxe Reverb RI was only 7 more watts and also had a 12' and still punchier.
B Bent, that second jack in the back is NOT for an external speaker cab, it's for plugging in the optional footswitch to turn on/off the Fat Boost.
If you want to run a cab, there are 2 ways of doing it:
1. Unplug the internal speaker and plug in an 8 ohm cab. This way you can only run the cab.
2. Unplug the internal speaker, and get a quot;Yquot; cable. (1 male, 2 female ends) Plug the male end into the speaker jack, and the internal speaker into one of the female ends. Then you can plug an 8 ohm cab into the other female end and run both the internal speaker and external cab. The 8 ohm int. speaker and the 8 ohm cab will be in parallel, so that will make it a 4 ohm load. The Blues Junior can be run safely on 4 ohms. Most Fender tube amps can run with a slight mismatch of ohms. An 8 ohm amp can be run with 4, 8, or 16 ohms, according to everything I've learned from the FDP's amp experts.
Thanks Strat Fan. I feel like an idiot I knew that plug was for the fat boost I just forgot!!! I can't wait to give this a try.

Say, aren't you a little too young to be having a quot;senior momentquot;? One thing though; I'm not exactly sure what kind of Y cable to use...I don't think that I've seen one made specifically for guitar amp speakers. If you find one, let me know. I just bought a Blues Jr. myself, and will want to add an additional cab, too! Thanks.
