The best rush in the world, especially when it's mic'd in a big venue! Even if it's not, there's nothin like opening up a great tube amp with fresh tubes!
I just came back from a studio where I've got the Bogner Ecstasy sitting next to a Matchless Chieftain. I ran it in stereo with a LP w/Seth Lovers, and turned it up to the breaking point. It practically blew the jeans right off my legs!! Screw earplugs....I need to hear the TONE!!! Now, that's how to start a weekend!

I'm with ya there brother....Don't you love it when you can literally feel the air pumping out of the speakers and across your pant legs! Just great stuff..
Just ignore the endless cricketts
What'd ya say Scott? I saw your lips moving, but couldn't quite make out the words!
I don't put in earplugs till a drummer shows up. Honestly, why do they even tune drums?? No matter how good their drumset sounds, it still sounds like trainwreck, compared to a guitar/tube amps! LOL
While I totally agree with you, it must be stressed to not do this too often, lest your hearing be permanently damaged. It's kinda like anything else- all good things in moderation.
That being said, I'm off to the great outdoors for a smoke...lol

AMEN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i myself plan on popping the top on a couple of cold ones and plugging in my teese wah and hamer standard into my ROCCAFORTE HG50 and turnin' that mutha up !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My ears are damage too but I think some people are lees sentive than others to high volume. I know many guys who have punish their ears much more than I did an they doesn't have a permanet noise in theirs right ear like I do.
So, lucky you GearHosener!!
i need a tube amp... my ears arent damaged at all.. i feel left out
This is sooooo true Joe...
No SS or Digital or Hybrid amp ever can give ya the same experience.
I tell ya tho...my ears are damaged from years of shooting as well as playing really loud too...nowadays the thought of a cranked 100 Watt Marshall makes me cringe a little..I'd probably go in a corner and cry for my mommy if I ever had the opportunity to mess with another Major head..now THATS some serious volume.
I'm with ya Jeff. I shot thousands of rounds without hearing protection back when I was younger . Come to think of it, I don't know anyone back then who used muffs or plugs. I think thats why I gravitate to the 30 watt and under tube amps.....They scream, but they do it with a little less volume.
You speaketh the truth-ah, Reverend GearHo!
I'd kill for that experience. I know what a cranked Shiva sounds like and that would be nothin' like your setup.
BTW-I'm sure you FELT the tone, bro!
i finally tapped into an awesome cranked tone with my DRRI using your advice for preamp tubes GJ (Sovtek LPS rules in V2). I played the amp cranked at a school concert on thursday and it just wailed with just the right amount of sustain, definition, and a light glazing of distortion.
Needless to say, nothing tops being able to let your tube amp rock at the right volume.
Dimed the Hiwatt at work yesterday....that 4x12 cab almost took a one way ticket to speakerheaven
Sounded like a Plexi Marshall...just more of everything except gain, but that big fat wodden spank of a tone is tremendious.
Kick in a compressor...and well blaze away
Amen, bro - but substitute the Bogner for Orange, Matchless for Marshall and let me play with a drummer! With those things changed, I'm right with ya...
Test Drive a Rolls and Ferrari, my brutha! LOL

Don't you just hate it when someone (mostly a club owner or sound guy) tells you turn it down
