would this fatten it up? how much tightness would it lose?

You will lose tightness, and you will lose bass. Quite a bit, actually.
It's going to get even more mids, just shifted down some into the low mid territory. It's not quite as buttery as a CC, but it's in the ballpark.

If you're into playing big thick leads, this would be your pickup. If you need big, tight palm muted rythms, the C5, standard JB, or Custom will do it better than a JB II.

have you tried the JB with a II personally?

Go to Scott_F's Tone ninja web page. I made a JB II a while ago (and wrote up a review on it), and while it was cool, but I'm not that much of a lead player, more of a rythm player that throws in weird stuff, so the voicing din't work out that well for me.

I have one in my Hamer Archtop. It sounds smoother than a JB and is great for thick leads, as Benjy said. It's a good choice. I've never been crazy about the stock JB.

I made a chrome covered one in the Duncan Custom shop, sadly I have no Volume pot to wire it up. I would tell you how it would sound in my ibanez.

I just did one and it's pretty cool. Posted a short review here from : localhost//forum/s...ad.php?t=39908

thanks for that link, can i ask does the DD/JB with a II stay tight?
i know the mids would go up but that might me good for me?
slayer uses tons of mids

Metalish/punkish A2JB demo -agressive brightish kinda sound

Imperial march (A2 JB) - high gain lead tone demo more than anything if you want to look at it like that. I doubled the rhythms with the backing so you can't take the rhythm guitars as the a2jb

Recent jam with Strangesound 1:50-2:27 3:00 - end = A2 JB in a few different moods

All electrics are the A2 JB... you'll have to wait a bit for them to kick in but you'll get an idea of a crunchy kinda tone, a more metal rhythm and a high gained lead tone.

Right click save as on all of them.

I really like this pup! I've got it in a poplar strat, it's hot, fat and still pretty tight (must be due to the output maybe?)

I recorded all of my guitar parts with a guitarport -gt; cubase SX

Hope they help

The one in my my Dean honks! It's like the pissed-off bastard love-child of a JB and an APH2. (Can I say that?)
