Hi all.

I've been wondering: What would a Duncan Distortion set sound in a LP?

I'm thinking of buying an Agile LP and installing the set with a pair of push/pull pots to drop a coil on each pickup.

What kind of tones should I expect?

Would I lose all my cleans?

Would the DD set work well in a chambered LP?

Thanks for your help.

Bueller? Bueller?

Nobody's had a DD in a LP?

Really?

I have. I personally think DD's are GREAT in LP's! DD's can be kind of bright at times but, the wood and the construction of a LP makes it butta!!!

Can't speak for the neck (I'm not giving up my 490 and you can't make me! And it can beat up your AIIP for that Slash tonme on SCO'M!!) But the bridge is awesome - I agree with Theodie that bright Paul = perfect!!! In a mega hard-rock/metal kinda way. Or some sizzlin' smokin hot blues for that matter....

Robert_S had DDs in his '95 Standard for a long time if I recall correctly. Must have been rockin' - he broke the headstock off it several times.

Thanks for the info gents.

Anybody tried these split?

I usually don't split 'buckers in a Lester, but I'm hoping that I might salvage a clean tone from them when split.

I think the DD bridge and neck sound fantastic split. Clean and punchy. It's ain't no Strat, but if you wanted a Strat sound you'd buy a Strat, right?

Go for the DD combo dude!

Simon, you're scaring me Bro.

Yep, I had a DD set in my 95 wine std for quite a long time. It's a killer set in a LP and that was my go-to guitar for a couple of years. I had a cool little wiring installed with 4 push pull pots that split and parallel wired both pickups.

The DD bridge model preferred in parallel and I got an amazingly close Neil YYoung lead tone from the DDb in parallel through mu Mesa gear. I know thats not how Neil does it but it worked. The DD neck split had a killer bluesy lead tone, brighter than a humbucker and lower in output but still very cool.

I found that schematic on the SD site ages ago in the techs tips section or something like that. I haven't seen it there for a long time but I think I saw gearjonser post a copy of it not too too long ago.

The DD set in a LP rips.

I had a weird experience splitting DD in my LP. I don't think it sounded quite right somehow.

It's actually fun playing a neck model (12.7k) in the bridge, not very full though, but plenty aggressive and very clear.

I didn't try the dd set but only a dd bridge. Wonderful at dirty settings, lost cleans but the problem with it was not matching the original neck pu. Gone back with the bridge original with a 500k pot. It's got everything there though I am trying a ceramic bridge pu once again in the near future... keep you posted.

Thanks everybody. I'll let you know how they work for me when I get 'em.
