I voted amps.

I said quot;guitarsquot; but it really depends on the shop. Some have nice guitars and amps that don't excite me. Others have nice amps and guitars that aren't too thrilling.

At GC, I mainly check out the used gear. An occasional bargain can be found (I scored a Soldano half stack for $700 a couple years ago) and I've seen enough Gibson/Fender/Marshall/Crate gear in this lifetime.

Well, you can't play an amp without a guitar so I voted guitar.

Guitars are sexy . . . I like to go to them first. Then I glance over the effects pedals that I can't afford and probably don't need, and finally I head over to the amps and play untill I leave . .

Amps, and I always bring one of my own axes to test.

right to the guitars to see what's new!!

I love looking at a large selection of guitars. I grab the first thing that looks cool, mess around unplugged to hear if it's good and then proceed to amps.

I'm the idiot who voted effects ....... because i can't afford a new amp or guitar!

Ahah eheh hihi hoho.... ehrm....

it's usually, walk in... quick scan of wall for lefties... realise I already own the same models as they stock or they're cheaper crap than I own.. wander to counter.. grab picks and strings then leave..

I buy strings, then buy a beer at the Asian market next door. Guitar stores don't carry anything I want.......at least that's what I thought till I visited Ed Roman's in Las Vegas.
I'm still recovering from that 'overload of the senses!' Two thumbs up. I don't care what people say about him, he has the best guitar store in the United States!

Guitars. They look better!

I go for the used gear. Looking for bargains.

guitars - must shops here have amps amp; effects kinda locked away...

depends on the store, and it also depends on whats on my mind at the time

Exactly!Guitar are a work of art to me.
I see a lot of beauty in them.

Amps are just a great tool to project the sound of that beautiful guitar.
Big square box with a lot of knobs and a couple of speakers.
No real glamour to the looks of an amp.

Plus, with a guitar, feeling it is a big part of the magic.
Guitars and the ladies are the only things pressed up against my body.
Pressing an amp or effect up against my body would look awefully
perverted.

Guitars... I mean what could be more exciting than a guitar hanging around and saying quot;Hello, play me!quot;

Amps. I'm an amps man

The very first thing I do (in any shop) is walk through the guitar section and see what´s there...if I find something intereisting, I´ll take a low end, a midrange and a HIgh end axe down for about 30 seconds and quot;playtest the shop´s techquot; (setup issues and such..)

I´f I´m not turned off by then, I might become serious about purchasing something...

Haha...I'm the exact opposite. To me, a guitar is a tool. I mainly judge a guitar by it's ability to manipulate the amp to make the noises I'm after.

The amp is the forge I use to shape my sound....the guitar is nothing more than a hammer used in the process.
