In a previous thread I was asking about Duncan PU choices for my new Carvin C66. (Alder body, maple cap, ebony board) I finally got my JB in the mail and installed it to the bridge last night. Holy Crap!! It's SWEEeeettttt. It's THEE tone I was looking for in a bridge PU. I was really worried it would be too shrill or too bright for my guitar with the various wood that's on it. It's not..it's really sweet sounding. I did some comparative clips A/B'ing it to my stock Carvin C22b that came with the guitar. Man...no contest...the Carvin PU sounded like ASS compared to the JB. I left the pots at 500K too and it doesn't sound bad at all. It IS bright...but not icepick bright...of course I always roll off my tone a little and I never have the volume on full when I play.

I'll post some sound clips on my site soon for anyone who wants to hear.

Carvin pickups in general sound like.....not good. lol

I have the day off tomorrow, so I'll be sure to get some clips recorded and posted. I'll record Proto Cosmos by Allan Holdsworth and post it for sure. Reason being, I have a clip of my Carvin C66 on my site already and it was done with the stock C22b. When you hear the same guitar through the same recording setup, same mixing, etc with a JB in the bridge..you'll be amazed as how much better it sounds. Of course quot;Tonequot; is subjective...someone is bound to dislike what I like...but oh well. :-)
