I borrowed this pup from stratdeluxer97(THANKS John!) to put into my Custom Tele.
Specs:
John combined one coil from a '59 and one from a custom then used an a5 magnet. It measures 11.5k and is covered.
Results:
Warm, super smooth and slightly compressed, very articulate, lots of low and mids with smooth highs. It shined both under gain and clean. Not quite as open as my Antiquity, but it still retains a bit of woodyness. Blends with the Jazz PERFECTLY. I really like this pup, in fact I like it more than the Ant in this guitar. John....sorry buddy.....I'm not sending this one back! J/K

miss that one already buddy?
I have a spare 59/CC with the alnico 5 magnet in. I like the A2 better. But I suppose it's a matter of preference. Anyways, let me know if you are interested.
John, how does this compare to a stock '59?
I think the pickup you're using is ballsier overall, but it's articulate because of the 59 bobbin and has a great crunch factor due to the Custom slug coil...
Let's say that the Hybrid shares the attributes of the 59 and the Custom...Tonewise it sits somewhere between a 59 and a CC....I think I Liked that pickup better with the A2 magnet, but I think I've also forgot a bit about how that pickup actually sounded?
So what did you like more about the A2? Do you think that it matters which is the slug side?
You know, this could be the next Custom pickup for SD! The Custom Custom H and Custom 5H

In a bridge position I'm pretty much sold on A2 magnets....I normally use the Custom slug with the 59B screw bobbin....If you don't split the pickup I don't know if it matters which coil you use? I guess it might matter though as far as where the location of the hotter coil is.
If I put that Hybrid that I sent you back into my LP I think I'd go back to the A2 magnet again.
