Does anybody actually use and/or prefer a quot;vintage stylequot; bridge pup? By that I mean not overwound and NOT a bucker? I know LOTS of us like the Antiquity I Custom Bridge (it's around 10k) but does anybody prefer a quot;normalquot; bridge Strat pickup?
I use an APS1 with the Alnico II magnet in the bridge of one of my Strats, sounds great.
I use a '74 pickup in the bridge of an '85 Squier. Added a Callaham block and a '79 Strat pickup in the neck. Wow!!!
I never liked them until i got my 50th Anniversary Strat. The bridge pickup really cuts without being icepicky, especially with the tone turned down to 5-6. The lead on this track is the bridge/middle combo, which I also love:

The pickups in my main MIM Strat are still stock. Just never found a reason to change. They sound fine.
Generally, I like an HSS or a hot single, but for my traditional strat, I have a set that was custom wound to my specs by Mike Gray of Chubtone.....basically the SRV/John Mayer tone to a T. The the whole set is a calibrated slightly overwound 63 strat set, and the bridge is pretty traditional sounding. I usually back the tone down to 7 or 8 on strats anyway, but honestly that guitar lives on the neck pickup, which kills about everything I've heard. Listen to John Mayer on the Crossroads DVD....that's the tone.
I do in my '63 Strat. It has all three original pickups, all wound the same: about 6.3K if I remember right. But I don't like the bridge pickup by itself and never have except when I combine it with the middle pickup. I've replaced it over the years with a stronger bridge pickup like the JB JR but it's back to stock again.
I like the overwound bridge pickup in the Antqiuity sets better and feel that is the way the Strats should have been made all along.

I have the A2P flat in mine and it sounds nice. I would, however, like the same type of tone but with more umph, like a new Texas Hot. The Custom and Hot sounded alright to me but the A2 mags are so much smoother.

I use a Fender 54 CS in the bridge position of my Strat, it serves me quite well. Note that I don't use any kind of pedals either.
