...remember that black strat I bought a while back? I gave it a slight makeover with a cool pickguard and some pickups I got from XSSIVE.

...aaaaand a Lovely Music Man Axis that I got for less than $800 (strap, locks, and gig bag included) after tax! Too good of a deal to pass up!!

Just thought I'd show my stuff off. Any questions?

Nothing to say except I'm really jealous of the black strats pickguard, I love those ones. They are so damn... no word for it. Congratulations. I've never played a music man, whats the neck like?

Oh and are they hot rails in the strat?

Thanks!

The Music Mans... this is the second one I own. The first one is a Silhouette Special in gunsmoke silver. Except for their John Petrucci models, all the guitars have a 1 5/8ths inch nut, just a little narrower than what you'd find on a strat. The necks are WONDERFUL!!! My all-time favorites. This one's made of birdseye maple and is only lightly tung oiled for a very raw, smooth feel. The Silhouette is like a shallow C... think thinner strat but not as thin as an Ibanez. The Axis is a bit chunkier and asymmetrical as well so you get a broken-in feel right out of the box. Since I have small hands, I REALLY love these necks... total freedom of movement and on premium materials to boot.

Yessir. A full hotrails set with neck models in the neck and mid slots and a bridge in the you know where.

Iquot;m digging the Strat. Only two control pots? I see something that looks like it might be where the volume knob typically goes.

What's the body made of on the Music Man?

Yeah, I have a question (or two). Where'd ya score the Axis for such a good deal and when ya gonna send that one to me? I love those guitars. Gotta get me one after a while, but it will be a while.

nice use of the pickguard!! as for that axis...I WANT IT very cool!!

I don't really like having two tone knobs on a guitar, so I made it one master volume and one master tone. I plugged the open hole with a dome-top hex screw and fastened it with a nut on the underside.

The Axis is basswood with a maple top.

I'm diggin that Strat...very cool! Is it a MIM?

How do you like the HotRails in all three positions?

Guitar Center (at least MY GC) can't sell them very well so they were blowing them out for WAY below dealer cost.

There's still one left at GC El Toro but its got a huge chunk out of the back from when some dip**** dropped it.

Very nice, like the strap

soo....totally....*****in....

sweet deal on the axis man! How'd ya score that?

Edit: Just read entire thread. sick ****.

It USED to be an MIM Deluxe series strat... powerhouse model.

HR's in all three positions... it's very hot, fat and agressive and sweetens up a tad when you back off a little. Great guitar for hard rock. I have it strung with Dean Markley blue steel 9-46s

I love both guitars. The Axis looks killer; and that Strat? Wow...... Too cool.

Damn if that strat was 22-fret ebony board
still looks great
i always thought the Axis headstock looked awkward though

Cool guitars. One thing you might consider on the black strat is a way to split all the HR's, since it'd be like having vintage AND heavy all in the same guitar.
I have a HR neck on my Gamp;L, and a pullup volume, so I can get that pickup to be more suitable for rhythm playing.

The neck looks like it'd be great on that MM.

Thanks guys

GJ... I actually did consider that but due to time constraints (wanting to use it on two gigs next weekend) I just wired it up normally. I'll get the fancy stuff later LOL.
