Title says it...I don't get it...The TSL 60 watt combo amp is cheaper than the 60 watt head. Whats the dealie-yo?!?!!?

The most obvious answer is that the combo doesn't sell as well, so it's cheaper. I don't know that for a fact, but I'll bet that it's not far from the truth.

It's the other way round over here.

Also the combos have so many heating problems. That leads to the lower resell and keeps people from buying them in the first place. I won't again.

I just looked on MF and the TSL60 head is 100 bucks cheaper than the 1x12.

Hmm...the DSL combo is way cheaper than the head. like $250 cheaper. It is EL84 based, though and has less power (40w vs. 50w). I guess I just saw that and thought it was weird.

DSL40 also doesn't have all the features of the DSL/TSL heads. It's Marshall's quot;introductoryquot; tube amp.

The DSL401 is a beginner's tube amp. It has alot of corners cut to bring the price down- lack of a presence control (essential to any tube amp), doesn't have the low end bass boost switch of the head, it uses much cheaper, smaller EL84 tubes, the cabinet is made from a cheap quality MDF chipboard, and the effects loop isn't that great. It also has a cheaper grade Celestion speaker in it. I had one, eventually traded it in towards a REAL amp, a JCM800 2x12 combo.

The DSL 50 is a great amp, it has 2 EL34's, which reduce the price slightly from the DSL100. Lack of a speaker also makes it cheaper. So that's why it may be closer in price to the DSL401.

I think Marshall has a 60 watt 2x12, though it may only be the TSL series. Those ones have EL34's and tend to be pricey, and are built very well

Over here the TSL 601 is about 30€ more than the 60 head.
