Well, I didn't get lost, but almost did looking for Ishibashi music in Nagoya. lol I picked up this gem, a Fender Japan '52 Tele. It plays great, good, powerful sound strummed, sustain and feels great with open position chords. I need to get used to gloss necks and 7.5quot; radii to play blues well up the neck, but I love the first and second positions... Anyway, here's a pic of the bridge, would I gain anything by replacing it (Barden) or the saddles (Antiquity)?

Regarding the pickups, they are the US texas specials, and I unfortunately don't have an amp with me... I had a 5 minute teaser on a warmed up Fender tube amp (sounded great clean, distorted channel left something to be desired). I obviously have been playing it unplugged for almost two weeks now, I need to get it home and try it out on my amp. Assuming the pickups are going to be replaced, I think I want A5's that definately sound like a tele, but maybe with a little extra low punch, not all treble (but I do want that treble). It sounds like the Broadcaster is what I'm looking for... How do the Ants sound compared to the '54 and Broadcaster? For the neck, have the '54 and Ants fixed the vintage tele neck problems or should I be looking for something else? I want that middle sound to be quot;telequot; too....

I've read the ultimate tele tone thread, time to revisit it I think... (and learn my Bruce, Keef and Petty licks! )

(GRRR... I swear this forums quot;attach filequot; script sucks!!! I haven't been able to use it in two months or more, now...)

I have a similar TELE that a good friend of mine gave me. As far as bridge replacement.... it will intonate a lot better with the compensated saddles, but I have elected not to change mine. I feel there is something unoque about the original 3 barrel configuration that adds to the sound.

A good friend of mine has a custom shop Relic Broadcaster that has the Texas Specials in it and it sounded real sweet. Mine has the stock PUPS which are lacking something!!!
I have a vintage '54 that I will put in the neck and I have ordered a Jerry Donahue for the bridge... I have not recieved the JD yet so I am not sure when I will get it but I think this will be a great combination for a TELE. Good luck with the new guitar!
