i just bought a 500k push/pull pot because my jackson pot would often crackle. I'd rather keep the pot and stay with passive pickups, but i need help with deciding which bridge pickup would best suit me. These are the ones i was interested in...
jb
steve's special
dimebucker
tone zone
custom
emg-hz h4??? (alexi)my guitar has an alder body, flamed maple top, rosewood on maple neck...
i would love any other suggestions

My honest opinion is try the DiMarzio MegaDrive or Evolution. They both work amazing with alder...
A Duncan choice would be the Full Shred...
Jackson, what kind of tone and output are you looking for? There are quite a few pickups that will work in that guitar so a description of what you want will be helpful.

What kind of tone are you looking for and what´s in there now would help us a lot
high output,
insane metal tone
Way too general. But, with your amp, I'd go with a JB or a Custom.
Also, and I've said this way too many times; Alexi has NEVER recorded with the HZ-4, aside from the newest Trashed Lost and Strungout, which blows IMO.
Every album prior to that EP was recorded with a Jackson J-50-BC with a JE-1000 onboard.

wish he still had those jacksons .. the HZ's blowif you want something insane.. may i suggest something more butique? like a bareknucles Warpig?
if you wanna go for duncans.. a dimebucker or a custom mayhap?
but if you decide to go active, look no further than the EMG 85 for rythm

Man, the 85 bridge is such an insane pickup! It's not just for rhythm, either. Kicks ass in all aspects of playing!

JE-1200, if you meant the mid-boost. BTW, DSS, have you tried one yet (active mid-boost)?

Nope, I meant the JE-1000, not the mid boost .
I haven't yet, haven't felt a real need to. I might pick one up off eBay sometime when I have the cash though.

How about something like the Steve's Special?
The Megadrive.
what im looking for is clarity, more highs and lows, less mids, and high output...
BTW i knew alexi used the jackson pickups,
does jackson still make them?
Nope, you'd have to get them off eBay.
Scooped sound with high output? I'd say a Custom 5 but isn't that high output; about 14k. I still think you'd be best off with a Custom or a JB. You'll eventually learn to turn your mids up, as well.

I have a JE-1000 Gain boost circuit I might be willing to part with... PM me if you want to discuss it...
how would a custom 5 sound in comparison to a jb or custom?
