Just thought I'd update my progress on converting my strat from three singles to dual humbuckers. I have the pickguard in, but don't have access to a drill right now to cut the control holes. I'll be heading home in the next couple of weekends and I'll do it then. I'm also digging up info about getting chrome rings for these Lawrence humbuckers, there's a bit of space around them and I think the rings will look killer. I have a shot w/ black plastic rings and it looks ok, but the black doesn't really jive with the rest of the guitar. If someone described that color scheme to me, I'd probably think poorly of it, but these pictures look nice.

Oh yeah, here's the shot of the black rings on Strat. I surprisingly like the way rings look on top of the guard, but as I said the color just doesn't work. Chrome could turn out looking very very cool.
I can't believe you put a quot;toilet seatquot; on that guitar!

I think the chrome rings will set that fooker off!

Don't be such a tool .

I like it better with no rings. I mean, why do guys put hum rings over strat pickguards anyway? -isn't that akin to having two pickguards?

You can see the copper shielding inside the cavity .

It's for the Bling Bling f/x yo dizzle. WERD!

Chrome rings will make that thang Schweet!!!!! Cant go wrong with those Lawrence's either!!!!

FF; that thing is so gorgeous and clean without controls, I'd be tempted to wire the pups to a stereo jack. Let them share the ground, and bring the hot wires out through a stereo cable to an external foot pedal volume/tone/selector. That would be so cool. I'll even design and build the pedal.

Nice axe regardless.

ArtieI agree, it does look pretty clean w/out controls. But don't worry, I'm using two mini chrome knobs and a chrome miniswitch, so the controls will be VERY unimposing.

I'm assuming no kinds of covers are available for those pickups due to the quot;railsquot; design?

I think the black rings with nickel covers would look great on that axe (which looks durn good as it is bro!)...

or what about something like EMG uses?

It's actually due to their size (compare them to the standard humbucker cutouts in the pickguard) and the fact that you can't solder a cover on since the entire housing is plastic.

Dave is a hell of a guy!!!! I have delt with him a number of times and will continue to do so in the future!!!!! I cant wait to see that thang with the Chrome rings on it!!! BTW, did you use that foil to shield the back of the pickguard? Bill Lawrences are the most quiet pickups I have ever played other than active!!! Those and sheilding is an over kill of quiet!!!! I have done the same thing to my Jackson SL-4!!! BTW, which Bill Lawrences are you running in that thang mang?

I talked him into a 500R in the bridge and a 500C. We figured the L/XL would be a bit over kill for his style.

Brent has spoken of the low noise factor w/ Lawrences, so I'm not sure if I'm even going to. However, I may have to as the ground wire from the trem claw is attached to the bottom of the control cavity. When I had the singles in this axe I star grounded it.

Might as well bro!!! It has been sheilded very well you may as well go for the full effect bro! An R and a C? Great choice!!!

I have never used the R in the bridge but according to Bill, 250K pots are acceptable. Do you have it wired yet? I am curious to hear what pot values you are using and what they sound like.
