Awhile back, I posted about redesigning my OLP MM1 (EBMM Axis copy) from an H-H trem guitar to a hot rod Tele axe. Here are some pics....
Stock-
Possible design-I could leave it alone and get the trem working pretty good. I do like the sound of the pickups. However, making it into a hot rod Tele-type axe sounds cool. It could be like my own signature model.
I could even add a custom pickguard and install a Tele control plate. I don't know. What do you guys think. I know that labor, pickups, and hardware will far outway the original expense of the guitar when I bought it but I don't care. Should I just get the trem working better and use it or make it a custom Hot Rod?
do it...do it...do it...
Definitely a cool one-of-a-kind. I think you should do it.
Yow- That's right interesting- Do it so you can report back
BTW, what's the neck profile like?
HOTRODS rule!!

Like a Music Man guitar neck. Standard C profile.
You'd only wonder what if, if you didn't.
Hot rod that biznitch
Having a guitar like no one elses is a pretty cool thing.
i would go for a tele humbucker-bridge and use the 2 zebras.
fixed bridge rocks *shake*
do it.

That's a cool idea.
Your idea of the hot rod looks pretty awesome... I'd do it...
I just thought of something though....
Right now, I have a vintage-type tremolo and the strings go up through it. If I remove it and inatsll a Tele bridge, I'm going to have to fill the cavity somehow. You can't run the string ends right up to the underneath of the bridge plate. I could do a top-leader but I really don't want that. Hmmmmm, what to do, what to do...
Not worth the trouble IMO! The cavity can be filled but, its a PITA. Leave it the way it is and get another project axe IMO!
bah, put a non-recessed floyd on it like it should have and call it a day

Go ahead and do it. It's only an OLP and if you screw it up bad you're only out $200 plus parts.
However if you really like it you can build the nice Warmoth version of that.
The OLP guitars are not worth a hell of a lot on the used market so this may be the guitar worth trying this crazy tele style mod make over.... i'd say do it...
Even though I'd really like to hot rod the OLP, I'm beginning to think it may not be worth the time and labor, plus the cost of the extra parts. The biggest issue is the cavity that would need to be filled.
I have thought of a non-recessed Floyd too...
The consensus seems to be to hot rod. However, I do like the sound of it as it is. The fact that it is a cheap guitar doesn't help. I think I'll leav well enough alone and pursue the Tele I really want. Thanks to all who voted....
