Following XSSIVE's lead, I've rerouted my 2002 Fender Powerhouse Stratocaster to passive electronics. The model normally has the Fender signature midboost, allowing one to beef up the normally thin sound of their single coil pickups. I have replaced the S/S/S to a H/X/S configuration. The bridge humbucker is a JB/Custom5 Hybrid as built by BachToRock (one coil from a JB, one coil from a Custom5 with an A5 magnet), and the neck pickup is a Lil' 59. I purchased the pickguard from Warmoth, and drilled the pot holes myself (can't stand the annoying volume position on standard Strats. I rest my hand on the pickguard). CTS 500k split shaft pots, Orange Drop .47 cap, and a new switchcraft input jack.
I'm loving it! It plays unbelievably smooth, and I just love the Strat feel. I don't feel so bad about spending money on this guitar due to fact that I just ordered a PRS CE22 anymore. It has enough of its own character to still be a useful axe when the PRS does roll around. I brought it home and realized that my 20 watt Crate practice amp wasn't doing anything but taint the tone, so I went out and bought a new Vox Valvetronix AD30VT. I brought it home for a night and just couldn't find a real inspiring tone, so I exchanged it and lil' cash for a PODxt. I'm completely floored with the POD. It's the sweetest practice setup (and LIVE! I'm running it through my otherwise uninspiring Marshall AVT150 and it sounds great!) I could ask for, and I'm very happy I took the Vox back.
Without any further further delay, I present you with PICS!

That. Is. Awesome
Very Kool ~ Rock On!
Good choice with the pickguard - I love yellow and black.
Oh! I like..
That looks killer bro, enjoy it.
The strat looks Kicka$$ bro!!!!! Where's XESSIVE?
And about amps: I recommend a blonde Peavey Classic 50. It can be crispy clean, and it can be Marshall land. Try it out in the store.
i'm a big fan of graphitti yellow.. I approve very much!! My main axe is that color.. kind hurts the eyes in a quot;i'm going to rawk your face off with yellowquot; sort of way

I think it's more intimidating.. Originally Posted by Frantic_RockAnd about amps: I recommend a blonde Peavey Classic 50. It can be crispy clean, and it can be Marshall land. Try it out in the store.
I'm really into the high gain sound, and I'm not so sure the Peavey could provide it. However, if backed by a TS-9 maybe it could handle some heavey tunage. Worth a try.
Very nice!
sweet!
That looks pretty cool..... I have a yellow strat too.....
That guitar looks twice as good now!
Awesome stuff!
Very nice. I'm toying with the idea of going HXS with my Strat too, on the single would be a true single.
That's kick ass, I'm not usually a fan of single coil strats for some reason but with the humbucker any strat is awesome and then the color and everything ur kickass!
nice work man and it came out great!!! good color choices! also glad to see you decided to drill your own knob holes...much better that way than just using the last two normal strat holes (it looks odd if you do that). anyway good work and i'm glad your liking it! welcome to the hum/single 1 volume 1 tone strat club (which needs a shorter name lol)....you'll never go back again hahaha.
and yellow strats kick ass!!
*edit* i just realized you used a tele switch tip...cool choice, schecter used to do that now and again when they were building strat headstock shaped super strats back in Texas in the 80s! yes, random info lol.

Awesome. I never thought yellow can be cool. The only yellow guitar that I liked was a desert yellow RG550.
How about a wilkinson on that strat?

I bought a new Fender three way switch, but forgot to buy a matching black Strat style tip. The switch came with a white Strat tip and a black Tele tip, so for the moment I stuck the Tele one on. Now, however, I don't think it's going anywhere. I like the look and the feel of the thicker tip much better than the thin, traditional Strat style.Originally Posted by fretburnerHow about a wilkinson on that strat?
I think that I've spent enough money on this guitar for the moment. The PRS broke me man!
Love the way it looks, especially with the dark picguard and pups....great job. Did you notice however that it's missing a fret?
Looks pretty secksy man,i'm loving that pickguard on it!
